ParticipantBless you brotha

ParticipantMan I would love to get ahold of the whole archive if possible!
thx_1227
ParticipantThat’d be amazing. The holidays just wouldn’t be the same without pawpaw.
thx_1227
ParticipantI totally get it man, definitely do what you need to do. If it’s OK with you I would be more than happy to set up an archive RSS that isn’t published anywhere for the SOS faithful here. I definitely understand if that’s too much liability of leaking out still, but if it all possible I would love to get a hold of the shows for my personal collection. My dumb self did not back them up and now I’m really sad 🙁

ParticipantSame. I want to see that made so bad. I also wanna buy an orange block…maybe the set. Is that something you’re willing to do at this point Bryan? If so let me know a price.
thx_1227
ParticipantYeah we have a bearded dragon and a chameleon…easier to buy crickets in bulk and throw these things in to keep them alive.

ParticipantGood stuff Rob! I ingest an unhealthy amount of Twitch so I’ve seen all kinds of streamers. Already you’ve got a leg up on most of the newer ones I’ve watched – you’re not trying too hard to be something you’re not. You’re already hilarious and entertaining, so as you get comfortable with the Tech/obs side of things I’m looking forward to more of that popping through. Like Bryan said in the other thread – little things like jacked up voiceovers and rants. But yeah man, solid first stream…enjoyed watching it!

ParticipantStill thinking a twitch launch with bf2? TELL ME WHAT YOUR CHANNEL NAME IS SO I CAN SEE IT WITH MY EYES.
thx_1227
ParticipantLove the video element…nice job with it Bryan. Cool to see those “I have to check to see if I still have skin on” laughing spells on video.
thx_1227
ParticipantHilarious as always fellas.
Rob you look like an absolute badass now. You also mentioned streaming PUBG on twitch…do you have your channel created so I can follow it?

ParticipantAny time I hear one of those GarageBand jingles in the wild I’m always sad when I don’t hear the SOS lyrics that accompany them in my brain.
THIS IS THE CLAWMARKS ON MY PEEPEE SONG DAMMIT.

ParticipantSomething really strange happened recently – I talked about it somewhere, but I watched Return for the first time in a few years, and at the end (spoiler!) when Vader is looking at the Emperor and Luke before he says “No”, all of what came before sort of flashed in my brain – all the things that happened with Anakin and Obi-Wan and Ahsoka and the turn and everything, and I found myself getting really emotional. Like I saw all the good that Anakin did, the conflict was more pronounced. It was pretty awesome.
Love it. I had a love/hate thing with the Clone Wars, but in the end it won me over. I’ve seen a few edits on youtube of that scene at the end of ROTJ where they splice in flashbacks from the prequels as Vader looks at Luke being fried by palps. I can only imagine how even more moving they are now that we have Clone Wars footage as well.

ParticipantThanks THX! To recap, I’m looking for one that does:
- auto-switching based on a linked mic source (would prefer the source NOT be the built in mic on the camera)
- has a min shot threshold (so it doesn’t switch 16 times a second
- records all sources to disk in addition to the ‘program, not just the ‘program’
- must run on Mac
- must support USB camera sources
- streaming support for more than one service
- whatever else I said on the show
Man I’ve scoured the internet and couldn’t find anything out of the box that fit all of these criteria. OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) is a great free program that a lot of gaming streamers use, and with some scripting magic you could probably get it to switch scenes based on audio. However, no bueno on recording ISO streams.
The only program I’ve found that will record ISO streams is Wirecast Pro, but it costs a thousand bucks (literally).
Question – would it be an acceptable solution to have all cameras on screen at the same (in a grid layout or something similar) time instead of switching back and forth? If so, OBS would probably be your best bet.
Sorry if this isn’t helpful, I’m actually surprised that audio based switching isn’t a more readily available feature in these streaming programs.

Participant1. Return of the Jedi
2. Empire Strikes Back
3. A New Hope
4. Revenge of the Sith
5 That part in Attack of the Clones when the seismic charge explodes
6. Force Awakens
7. Rogue One
8. Phantom Menace
9. Attack of the ClonesRob you stated perfectly why I don’t like TFA more than I do – it’s flatter. Definitely doesn’t contain the lows that the prequels do, but not the highs either. Gotta always give credit to Lucas for pushing the boundaries…even if sometimes it’s stupid.

ParticipantGreat show…enjoyed the Star Wars talk as always. Agreed with Rob on the soundtrack from Rogue One…very forgettable. If I remember correctly though they brought in that composer late in the game and he only had like 6-8 weeks to write the score? Doesn’t change the fact that it’s lame though.
Also I’ll throw in my vote for the video shows…I do quite a bit of multi camera web streaming for my job, I’ll see if I can find a program with the features that the Captain desires.
