ParticipantI’ve seen Dunkirk and Spidermin Robby, so if you could get right on seeing and giving us your takes on those films that’d be super.

ParticipantHaven’t seen Baby Driver or Dunkirk yet, but I really want to see them both. Spider-Man…yes.

ParticipantI liked both of them but if you can choose only one, it has to be Dunkirk. Baby Driver is a fun movie, but Dunkirk is fucking CINEMA.

ParticipantHave you been following the sad Harry Knowles/AICN stuff over the last week or so Robby? I know you used to read AICN back in the day, but not sure if that was still one of your regular movie site check-ins these days.
It feels kind of end-of-an-era-ish, even though none of the big movies sites are what they used to be really these days. Hell, as a CHUD guy I know that better than anyone. It’d be cool to hear your perspective on your personal history of the online movie site/community thing, as a big movie guy who’s followed the game for as long as you have. I know a lot of folks discovered sites like AICN and CHUD because they were searching for news on either the Prequels or LOTR films, or both.
Also, what are your regular movies sites these days, if any?

ParticipantWhy do some people waste food at restaurants, I mean, you’re paying like 14.99 for that meal but you eat half of it then throw the rest out. At least take it home for pete’s sake
Robbie do you eat fruit? What do you think of people who eat the skin of an apple then throw the fucker out? Personally I don’t throw away any part of the apple except seeds. Same with pears, I pop those suckers right in, they taste great

ParticipantOh, man, you guys with your ideas…
Lots of good ones here. Maybe tomorrow?

ParticipantTomorrow would be awesome Robby. Literally awesome. As in, I would be in literal AWE of you if you did it tomorrow.

ParticipantYeah, gonna have to be tomorrow, as in, tomorrow. I’ve been wasted the last few days from work, but I’ve got lots to talk about now, with Harry, fruit and restaurant food, and then whatever I’m gonna talk about.

ROB’S TOP FIVE FIGHTER INTERVIEWEES
Active and retired. I mean, if I had to guess, Chael would be up there, but I realize I don’t really have a sense for which MMA fighters you find most entertaining on the mic/phone/studio. I think at some point you’ve said you’re a little over but … y’know … I dunno … let me know. Your opinions on who/what you (and Jerry and Bryan) find entertaining or not entertaining (be it movies, sitcoms, comedians etc.) is always intriguing to me, since you (and Jerry and Bryan) are such an entertaining ma-hucka/entertaining ma-huckas yourself/selves.

ParticipantYeah, I feel like my focus has shifted again. I’ve been really bored with “traditional” entertainment, so I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube and Twitch. I think I just feel like I’ve seen it all, and what’s been engaging about the streaming stuff is that there’s such an immediacy and a realness to it. Guess it’s why I love to record so much.
That being said, the back and forths between the fighters is boring me, too. Guess it’s just the reality of fighting, that whatever you’ve said before doesn’t amount to much once you get in there, unless you’ve got an extremely potent gift at the gab like Conor. His words have barbs on them, and they cut extremely deep. Like the whole Chiesa/Lee thing, it was just…loud. I don’t know, am I getting cynical?
October 7, 2017 at 1:35 pm #64964Bucho
ParticipantNo, I can dig it from that angle, very few of them are so good they’d be fielding offers from Jeff Ross to be on the next roast. I just enjoy the way it raises the personal stakes when fighters go the braggadocios route instead of the humble one.
But on that other angle – are you saying you’re so burned out on it don’t even listen to/watch Ariel’s show anymore? So you don’t have favourite guests/interviewees?

ParticipantOf course that made me think about who would be on stage if they ever did a roast of Dana White. Joe Rogan obviously, and Chael, Bisping and Conor, obviously, but who else?
Rampage is usually pretty fun. Derrick Lewis is too. Ronda has sassy delivery up the wazoo when she wants to. Forrest Griffin? Josh Barnett? Alistair Overeem? Faber? Cruz? Bruce Buffer?
This entire question probably bores you, but I’m pretty sure I want to see this pretty badly.
