Yeah, some very enjoyable times on 131 Rob. Unfortunately I wasn’t home to see the FB card this time but I found a place to watch the Spike card at least.
Normally I don’t enjoy the heavyweights as much but the match ups of Peewee Herman vs Einimo and Joey Beltran vs Aaron Rosa were so much fun. Beltran and Rosa, (which lucky for me they replayed on the Spike card) was even comedic at times as they whaled away on each other like – as Rogan commented – Rock Em Sock Em Robots.
Loved seeing Demian Maia’s improved standup and hearing Mark Munoz mention how deceptively strong he is in the clinch too. Either Maia has been working his nuts off or Munoz isn’t as good as he seemed. Also loved Sam Stout’s knockout of Yves Edwards. Not that I dislike Edwards, I just loved that simple but sweet body shot head shot combo Stout dinged him with.

Oh yeah, and in other awesome news, Strikeforce is back on NZ screens again. A couple of years ago we’d get Strikeforce but no UFC, and then when we got UFC of course they dropped Strikeforce. It wasn’t the end of the world because several dvd rental outlets have stocked the dvds for years, but it always left us behind the times on one or the other.
So when Zuffa bought Strikeforce a couple of months ago I was touching my wood that we’d get Strikeforce along with UFC and hallelujah my dreams are coming true just in time for Overeem vs Werdum!
Also, Quinton Jackson vs Jon Bones Jones for 135. Boo ya!

Yeah, lots of great fights, and awesome news this week for 135.
It’s weird that Strikeforce will actually be in Dallas this week. Didn’t even try to get tickets because, well, not really excited about being in an arena with hundreds of drunk testosterone-filled idiots. Leave my pretty virgin-ass at home, thanks.

I don’t know if any of you chaps caught the Masvidal vs Noons match up from the Strikeforce card on the weekend but it’s really worth watching just for a fun lightweight battle.

Tell me you guys saw Kongo vs Barry from the Versus card.
If you didn’t catch it live you have to try to find a replay or a copy of it somewhere and watch it without spoiling the result for yourselves. It’s pretty amazing.

•holy crap! it looked like kongo went out about 3 or 4 times but immediately snapped back like a champ. i really thought the ref stepped in and actually put his hands on the fighters to stop it but pulled back. that was the best fight turnaround i’ve ever seen. absolutely incredible.

Yeah Mirgliotta jumped in there with his hands on them but for some reason stepped back off and they rocked on. It seems crazy but it turned out to be a great development.
Then I heard an interview with Kongo saying he wants to get amongst it with Matt Mitrione next. I don’t know if Mitrione is up to it yet but it’d sure be fun to find out.
