Huh? Didn’t see that one…
Ok, just watched that. That was pretty fun! Khabib is a fun dude, and Ariel…he’s not taking shit from anybody anymore! I like it.
So..thoughts?
Gotta say, I was immediately sad for Eddie. Conor made him look like a chump out there. This is why I’m not a huge fan of watching things outside the cage about fighters – it gives me too much of an appreciation for them as a person, and I’ve said before that I like to watch fights almost with no emotion and be able to judge the fights on their own merit, but it’s really tough this day and age. I mean, I’ve been watching Eddie since before he won the belt at Bellator, so I’ve got a lot of data on him in my head as a fighter, and he looked off walking out to the cage to me. I had no idea how it was going to play out until then. That being said, Conor’s a special dude.
Wow, Tyron and Wonderboy – what an amazing performance by both guys. That being said – I don’t think that the 4th round was a 10-8 in my eyes, since Wonderboy had recovered and was dropping shots on Tyron at the end of the round. I had it tied going into the last round, so that would’ve meant Wonderboy should’ve won, but that’s me.
Joanna/Karolina – what else can you say except wow, what a great fight. Interesting to see if they do a rematch on that one.
Weidman/Romero – that one was tough – I don’t like Romero as a person (cheater!) so it was hard to see Chris go out like that. Going forward – ugh, does Bisping even have a shot?
Meisha/Raquel – meh sort of fight, didn’t see Tate retiring coming. Hats off, though…
Yay Frankie, and Khabib – that’s going to be real interesting! Of course, Tony Ferguson would also be interesting vs. Conor, too. I think Tony brings a lot of challenges to Conor.

Yeah, top notch night for sure, even with the loss of the Cowboy/Kelvin scrap it was plenty epic. Chris’s loss was the bummer of the night for me, I wanted him to beat Yoel so bad. Tough to watch Eddie be so outclassed too, I agree with you on that one, although I’ve always enjoyed the human side of fighting so I love a lot of that behind-the-scenes stuff rounding out the narratives. I was happy Conor won though, I think he’s awesome for the growth of the sport and a joy to watch.
I had R4 10-8 to Woodley because even though the position was reversed at the end it had been Woodley’s choice to go to his back rather than a TD from Thompson, and Thompson’s GnP was doing no damage to Woodley, while Woodley had rocked him twice and clamped on a tight guillotine. With the changes in 10-8 scoring that was enough for me, so I had it 47-47 at the end.
The Polish girls were both badass but Miesha looked off her game right from the get-go. If you watched that fight without knowing the backstories of her and Rocky you’d never know Miesha was the one who was recent former champ. Frankie vs Jeremy was amazing, probably my fight of the night. I’ll never get tired of seeing Frankie take on bigger guys and winning.

Finally listened to this. Guy is just fascinating. Really enjoyed this! So Conor is Nick+Floyd…that actually is pretty correct!
This fighters association deal is VERY intriguing. Did you listen to the conference call? I won’t get a chance to hear it till tonight but I followed it on Twitter.

I didn’t listen to it, but I also followed it, and then watched the guys break it down on the MMA Beat yesterday. Interesting to see where it’s going, and how many others join the cause.

To me it’s always worth it with Ronda. Fighters like her, Jonny Bones, Conor … even when it’s fluff it’s drama.
How about that Lando Vannata kid though? Almost takes out El Cucuy on short notice then waxes Makdessi in under two minutes with some of that sweet Barboza style kung fu.
