Just imagining hearing Bruce Buffer try to say all that – great.

Frankie’s a weird dude. He really surprises me every time. Like, he just doesn’t look like much. I would bet against him every time he fights, but he has won a lot. The Last Benson fight was a real nail-biter, and you could definitely argue that he won. I really think that more than anything, he’s just one of those guys from Jersey that I can’t stand.

Wearing Jose’s shirt right now, so yeah, I’m a fan. I liked him ok before, but ever since I saw a bunch of pictures from one of the last expos and hearing stories about how Jose loves to meet fans – I just love that. Maybe it’s because he doesn’t live here, or maybe it’s because he doesn’t speak a lot of English, I don’t know, but he’s just a real down to earth guy. A real people’s fighter, in every sense, and just a damn good guy to boot.

All that being said – this is a really interesting fight, and of course, like always, I’d bet against Frankie. Who knows, though? Jose’s a tough dude, but his gas tank has come into question. Super pumped for this.

I’ve read this story a few times, and it’s the only time I’ve read the account that includes the would-be assailants touching him first. I hope it’s true, because with him A) being so excited about it, and B) driving around looking for the second guy so he can choke him out… I’d say there is a good chance that he became the criminal. If you just look at the Twitter side of things, these guys have a really strong case against him. They probably were total dirtbags and probably did intend to rob him. Problem is, the near-live account doesn’t include them touching him first, and does include him chasing a guy down who is no longer a threat, then chocking him out and hitting him more.

Can’t say I like the story actually… I’d call it an abuse of ability. Seems like guys at this level would be more aware of crossing the lines of defense in the eyes of the law. I dunno, just looks wrong in this case.

You make some good points. The only part that struck me as dumb the first time I read it was him admiting he gave the guy black eyes when he was already unconscious.

I haven’t paid much attention to this – he did do an interview with Ariel Helwani about this. Maybe I should listen to it.

I like Ariel’s approach and it’s definitely the more professional one but the Junkie Radio guys generally get better interviews from fighters, ironically because they’re less professional. When they get fighters in the studio especially their laid back, easy-going vibe lets the fighters relax and open up and be more personal and honest. On Junkie Radio the fighters feel like they’re just hanging out with buddies and not being professional interviewees. I think we probably already yapped about this stuff but I don’t remember.

Plus in this case the Junkie video is only 4 or 5 minutes and Ariel’s is 17. Who wants to spend 17 minutes looking at a photo of Renzo when you could spend 17 minutes watching Rob and Bryan hooning around DFW in a truck?

Some fun fights early on tonight, especially the pair of R2 comebacks from Johnson and Pierce.

Meanwhile, here’s a fun thing with Ariel and Rampage.

I dunno what it is, but I LOVE these things. “Man, y’all got pecan pie up in this muthafucka, too? Sheeeeit.”

Lots of weird shit going on, but nothing really earth-shattering. Does that mean I’m becoming jaded?

I don’t know, does this unjade you?

That definitely helps. Two great champions, really. It’s hard to know who to root for. I’m an unabashed fan of Cain, though. Think I’ll be rooting for him.

I don’t know for sure if this will even screen here (most Fuel stuff does, but not all) but it looks very fun. I actually tweeted Dana a couple of months back saying he should get a crew to just follow Burt Watson around for fight week since nobody interacts with every fighter on the card to the extent he does so I hope there’s a bunch of footage of him and I’m at least credited as an executive producer. Hell, if I knew how to make ring tones my phone would bellow “WE ROLLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN'” every time I get a text.

I tweeted him once. He called me a fat dick.

That’s an interesting dude. I need that job.

Yeah, he’s had quite the life, ol’ Burt Watson. I’ve heard him when he’s talked to the chaps at Junkie Radio or Ariel a couple of times and the guy has fantastic stories, all the way from back when he served in the Marines to being Joe Frazier’s manager up to being the man the UFC trusts to make sure their fighters behave during fight week. Here’s a cool thing Stitich Duran wrote about him once – http://www.xyience.com/index.cfm?fa=news.detail&gid=255&newsCategoryId=46

Dana never tweeted me back though. Guess I should have been more of a dick.
