I haven’t watched TV in years, but we got Disney+ to share with my mother in law, and we started watching X-Files. Nearly at Season 4 after a couple months. Quite a good show but the rollercoaster of good, bad, okay, amazing, mediocre writing is sometimes a challenge.

I think it was Season 3 Episode 12 which was written by someone who really understood the characters and wrote a great story & dialogue, but it departed from the tone of the entire season so far. If you consider them serially it doesn’t make much sense, but on a per-show basis they are better.

The two/three part episodes are quite redeeming because they seem to bring in the heavy hitters for those.

Also an interesting thing is seeing someone who was a major character in a previous episode appearing as an extra in a later episode. A good example of this was one we watched yesterday, a character who played a quadriplegic scientist a few episodes ago appeared as a doctor running around a hospital.

I’ve up to my eyeballs in commitments across work and marching band these days

I, at least, knew you’d make a great Drum Major.

I don’t have google storage large enough to hold the mp3s so if you do have them Brian, and want to dump them into a cloud folder, please use this one instead:

I’d would definitely want a copy of the originals if you have them, I only have MP3s up to 148 in an old archive somewhere. I converted everything and deleted the originals before I realized it’s better practise to keep the source files, and space is no longer a concern for me for projects like this.

Here’s a google drive endpoint if it’s easier to dump them to the cloud, or if you bring them up somewhere I can download them:

I am missing the videos for the shows before 182, I grabbed everything off youtube. I think one of the 140s had a video with the call in show, and maybe one more before 182 (not including the non-show videos). I don’t know if anyone has a copy of those or not since it has been a very long time, but if there is, I’ll be really happy, and add it to the archive.

You can either Ctrl+A then right click and download as zip, or click on the “Download All” button in the top right.

Let me know when you have it downloaded so I can remove the link

I’ll post it here tomorrow and keep it up until I know you got it. Unless I hear otherwise from the captain.

I will have the link ready for you soon. I would eventually like to get the .mp3 files again from Bryan if possible, .opus is good but in Archival, you want to have the source media backed up always.

Are we going to get a Bucho & Robbie show for The Bad Batch?

If the captain doesn’t get you a link by March, I will get one posted here then (I have all my archives in Chicago and I am in Canada until then)

Right now the whole archive is about 18Gb – I might be missing some of the latest episodes though so I would have to check. This is with compressed mp3s in a .7z archive. Typically with newer podcasts I take them and convert to Opus format, which can reduce the size by 30-60%. I don’t have the complete archive here in Canada, it’s in the US, but I will convert it and have the whole archive in that format as well.

I maintain a few archival projects with assorted websites online, so I’ll always have a pack of SoS episodes if anyone needs ’em.

This reminds me that I should probably make the mega-pack with all the episodes and the video podcasts as well, mostly for my own purposes

I also have all the episodes I can make available through here if you need, or if you want a specific one I can give you a temporary link with https://tmp.ninja/

Whenever I see things like that, I’m always reminded of “If Top Gun Ended Prematurely” the classic SOS video

I’m reminded of the “If Star Wars Ended Early” clip that Brian made back in the day. Similar vein
