I just can’t get all excited like I’m supposed to for this CM Punk thing. Can’t even bring myself to watch the special Countdown show they did about him. If anything it makes me kind of sad for some reason, seeing this old dude decide to make his MMA debut in front an audience of … I don’t know, I guess a million and a bit will watch this or something? Even if he wins I think it’s probably just going to feel goofy to me.

I don’t like wrestling at all, but for some reason, Punk has something that I gravitate to. Maybe it’s charm or his intelligence, or maybe it’s because I feel sort of a kinship with the guy. I find it interesting for sure. I’ve watched all the interviews he’s done with Ariel, and he’s just an interesting guy. Very cerebral.

I’m totally with you that he’s very likeable – but that’s why I dread seeing him get pasted live in front of a massive audience, many of whom are rooting for him to fail badly.

I mean, I always felt a little bad when the nice guys of the game – Forrest, JDS, Shogun, Munoz etc. – take a big loss, but at least those guys are hardened, seasoned fighters. With Punk there’s a lamb-to-the-slaughter vibe that puts me off.

Speaking of likeable, how about your very most favourite female fighter in the world Miesha once again showing she is a hero to all and IMPOSSIBLE to dislike: http://mmajunkie.com/2016/09/miesha-tates-mountain-top-rescue-of-an-injured-6-year-old-hiker.

That girl is just a peach, I’m sure you agree.

    Nah, still a cunt.

Yeah, that’s cool and all, but she’s still totally unlikable and reeks of mediocrity. That’s just me, but I think she’s an average fighter who just happened to catch somebody to be champion.

I loved that she called out the kid’s mom for being “meekly built”.

I mean, sure it must have been shitty to deal with the extra helpings of brutal teengirl bullying in high school for having a set of shoulders on her, so of course she’s going to fly the flag for the not-built-for-Hollywood set, but that was unfortunate choice of adjective she picked to make her point.

Meanwhile, I’m pretty amped to see Reem vs Stipe go at it. Both of ShrunkenReem’s performances since USADA rolled into town have been technically and tactically intriguing, and while Stipe is kind of a dry dude the home town deal always adds some spice.

Oh yeah, for sure. These last two fights are really intriguing to me.

It’s sort of amazing, the Punk/Gall fight went the way I’d thought it might, but I really am intrigued to see what’s next for both of them.

I thought the night couldn’t get any crazier after Werdum/Browne but then Stipe/Reem happened. Joe having the truck replay the supposed “tap” twice was almost “The Office”-level cringey, although Reem recovered from it well to be fair.

The Punk fight just made me as sad as I thought it would, but the insanity of the HW fights kind of made up for it. Fucking Fabricio teeped Edmond! Just bonkers.

Yeah, I think there might be something seriously wrong with Edmond. What a strange dude. I can’t stand that guy, and it makes me kinda sad that Ronda still has anything to do with him.

You’d think if anything was going to wake Ronda up to his nonsense, even after her own beloved mom supposedly told her to ditch him, it’d be his ludicrous cornering during her loss to Holly. I’d literally kill literal kittens to know what she was thinking watching his carry on as he impotently hollered at her boy Travis between rounds.

Not many things would make me happier than finding out she’d gone to King’s or AKA.

I must agree. The game changes too much right now to have yes men in your corner. You need truth and you need to be challenged. I think too many coaches don’t balance truth along with a bit of fantasy (you’re the best fighter in the world, champ, shit like that).

Sage Northcutt is a damn ray of sunshine. Every time I see a pic of him or start to hear him speak in that cornball tone of his I expect him to be sweet but dumb, but listening to the way he answered several of Ariel’s questions on the latest MMA Hour, Sage is actually a deceptively sharp kid.

And I can’t get enough of hearing him call Ariel ‘Mr Helwani’. I’m grinning right now even as I type this out. The boy is nothing short of a delight. Especially needed it to balance out how bummed I was hearing Raging Al’s interview.

Speaking of that NYC card, I’m refreshing Junkie and Fighting 20 times a day this week waiting for them to announce the headliner for the NYC card already. What’s the damn hold up?

Yeah, the Iaquinta story is a bummer, for sure. I didn’t see the Sage interview.

I thought I read that they were announcing the rest of the card on 9/27 at the press conference? I honestly haven’t been paying a whole lot of attention to the fight cards themselves until the buildup, and they sure are building this one up.

    They nailed it.

I mean, it suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks for Jose, but for everyone else concerned it’s gold all round.

Conor doesn’t even look close to small facing off with Eddie either.

    RONDA’S BACK!!!

They said she would never return. They said she was broken. They said Holly took her soul.

    They were wrong.

Yeah, I guess we’ll see. I wonder if she’ll make any coach changes. Edmond is kind of a butthole.
