ParticipantJack Slack’s latest Ringcraft video. This isn’t the first he’s done on Conor, but it’s the best I reckon.

ParticipantHaven’t watched this yet. Gotta watch before the fights tonight! Seems like a really good card, too.

ParticipantOkay, the Ringcraft video was pretty nice, showing Conor’s ability to adapt, which is why I love to watch him. Again, that whole “like water” approach is my favorite attribute in any fighter, and I think that it’s what separates him and others like him from the rest. Jones is another, and I’m really interested to see what he’s going to be like on his first fight back. Kinda interesting that both of them are pretty polarizing when it comes to their personas, but I really couldn’t give two shits about any of that. Ronda’s another – pretty interesting to hear people who aren’t MMA fans talk about her, because she’s apparently pretty polarizing too. I’m just one of those that I just don’t like to hear too much about their outside the cage personas, because none of that really has much bearing on what they look like in the Octagon.
Did you happen to see the weigh ins yesterday? Seems like Ronda and Holly are trying to drum up some interest, because I don’t believe that there’s any real animosity between them. It seems to be a direct response to the MMA Hour and MMA Beat this week, talking about how the lack of animosity between them might affect the overall hype for the fight. Methinks it’s a bit too late, really. If they really wanted to cause people to get hyped about it, it should’ve started a couple of weeks ago.

ParticipantI probably should’ve kept this to one post, but fuck it. ‘Merica.
Yeah, dude, how could anyone not like Mark Hunt? Such a loveable guy. Did you become a fan of his simply because he was a local guy, or was he always an open book like this? I really like the guy, and I just hope that it’s a good fight, and I hope for nothing but the best for him.

ParticipantOkay…just wow.

ParticipantYeah, unreal. Not quite on the level of Weidman/Anderson I or II, but right the hell up there for most astounding, dramatic moments in the Octagon.

ParticipantGameplan. Simple as that. Fight YOUR fight. Amazing, beautiful stuff though.

ParticipantSeemed like the first time Ronda had been in there with an athlete on her level too. Matter of fact this time it was Ronda being made to look uncoordinated and somewhat ungraceful in her movements.
Exciting for the division, although surely the next fight is the rematch.

ParticipantYeah, April and I were having a debate on whether or not Holly is simply more skilled than Ronda. I just think that Ronda had a flawed game plan, and when I say that, it includes the training needed in order to deal with someone like Holly. Holly had the absolute perfect game plan, and her training was perfect. It’s disappointing because I think that when it comes to potential, Ronda just flat out has more, but she didn’t do what was necessary, and it could be that she was spread too thin with all of her other commitments, it could be that she was too distracted with all of the Mom/Edmond talk or all of the Travis Browne shit, but it’s all excuses at this point. It’s almost like when Verdum beat Cain – Cain just didn’t do what was necessary and paid the price for his lack of vision. Oops, sorry…

ParticipantI keep coming back to all the “Ronda could outbox a boxing world champion” noise coming out of her camp. Ronda’s always leaned really hard on this steely self-belief – her whole “I need to be the best in the world even on my worst day” mantra – and a big part of that was the reinforcement she got from her coach.
But Ronda seemed to fight like she was trying to make that point, even long after it was clear to everyone else she was utterly outclassed by a vastly superior striker. The truth wasn’t just staring her in the face, it was punching her in the face, over and over and over and over, but she was blind to it. And when you listen to Edmond’s advice between rounds and consider what he’s said over and over and over and over to the media about Ronda’s boxing ability, her state of mind might be kind of understandable.

ParticipantAh crap, looks like they took down that Firas vid. I guess it had too much fight footage in it.

ParticipantDidn’t get a chance to watch it.
But the more time goes on, I keep replaying the fight in my head, and holy shit Holm just impresses the hell out of me. Really curious to see how things play out with Ronda’s future.
