ParticipantThink I must watch this.

ParticipantThe GO BIG presser is less of a “must watch” thing than a “fun to have on in the background while you’re doing something else” thing. Shitloads of stars on the podium.
The best bit was probably Conor and Chad jawing AGAIN around the 48:00 mark.

ParticipantI watched part of the JRE/Rousey thing, and it was kinda interesting, but Joe honestly annoys me when he’s not commentating. He’s one of those that just seems to cuss for no reason. Just not natural. Interesting hearing some of Ronda’s stories though.
When was this? I’ve been preoccupied the last couple of weeks, so I haven’t paid as much attention to MMA in general.

ParticipantSeptember 4. The first half hour or so is actually just Dana introducing all the upcoming mains and comains, playing the promos and bringing each pair of fighters to the podium. It’s about 35 minutes in before John Morgan (as always) asks the first question. Skip to 40:00 if you want to see the start of the Conor shenanigans.
I get you on Joe. It’s why I can only listen to about 25% of the episodes he puts out. Joe’s never the reason to listen, the guest(s) is.

ParticipantYeah, I watched the Go Big conference, and wow, Conor was just aiming for everybody. Not going to make any new friends, but he’s already set up like 4 or 5 future fights.
And of course Mark Hunt is the most liked heavyweight. Dude’s a big teddy bear.

ParticipantI did see that Conor came out to say he thought it wasn’t just him who could sell out Cowboy stadium, but Ronda could too, and that DJ was masterful, which was good to hear after the reports of “fans” leaving the arena before and during his fight(s), so there is evidence that Conor respects the ability of someone aside from himself.

ParticipantOne fight that really pissed me off recently was the Frank Mir/Todd Duffee fight. Absolutely no talent displayed there. I’d rather watch DJ fight ANY day.
I like the Griffin/Bonnar stuff, so I’ll have to check that out.

ParticipantArlovski’s so hot and cold since he came back to the UFC. Looked horrible against Schaub and was gifted a decision, then looked like an unstoppable force against Bigfoot and Browne, then the lacklustre deal against Mir.

ParticipantYou have any feelings about this Faber/Bang Ludwig thing Robby? What about the Nick Diaz thing? What about the Holm/Rousey/Tate thing?
Sure is about time you recorded another episode of your Rob’s Solo Show show Robby.

ParticipantOh, god yes. I’ve been away too damn long.
Okay, so in typical Rob fashion, I got into something and went head over heels borderline obsessed into it. I know, vaping’s for “bros” and other weird shit. But I’ve gotten really into it, and I’ve been doing crazy amounts of research and I’ll be recording a mini-show about it soon, maybe tomorrow. Got a pretty weird story to tell, and it’s much better there.
The Faber/Ludwig thing – seems like high school crap to me, but maybe I just don’t know enough about it. I know Faber was on the MMA hour the other day and went on and on, but I only heard the last 10-15 minutes or so. Unless it’s somebody I’ve been waiting to hear from, I only watch the last part of the show where Ariel answers questions, because that’s always been my favorite part.
Nick Diaz’ suspension is absolutely ridiculous, a travesty of the highest order. I’m not even that big of a fan, but what the NAC did is inexcusable and I’m confident that it will absolutely not be 5 years.
Meh, Tate “deserved” the shot, but I get why they did what they did. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ronda actually asked for Holm instead, just because she’s a different opponent. Either way, Ronda’s going to win, but just like if you know the ending of a movie, sometimes it’s how you get there that’s the interesting part.

ParticipantOh dang, that’s funny, I always skip the end of the show once the interviews are done, and to be honest these days I even pick and choose which interviews I listen to too. It’s such a long show.
I find the Bang thing fascinating because he really does seem to be some kind of savant of a coach but even in his own interviews it’s clear he could easily be something of a mess of a dude in business dealings and such. And I almost always find Urijah worth listening to. After he did the show with Cruz I liked Cruz a lot more, but between the perenially relevant team he built and his non-MMA business interests I never stopped finding Urijah intriguing.

ParticipantYeah, I like Urijah, but I can’t listen to almost anyone that long, but then again, I’ve been watching HOURS of vape reviews, so maybe I just have to be really interested in it.
All that drama though – I just can’t find any interest in it. It changes the dynamic of TAM, but…meh. Got too many things going on to pay that much attention.
Yeah, my favorite part is the questions. It’s interesting hearing from all of those different people for sure, but when you have less time, what intrigues me is the view of the MMA world (and I think Ariel and Newyorkric are pretty spot-on).
