Uriah reminds me of Melvin Guillard, in that he’s wildly gifted but had problems with the head game side of things. Uriah seems smarter and more humble than Melvin, so it’s a different head game, but there’s a similar dynamic.

Fucking BJ. Looked more like he was out there doing ballet than fighting. Frankie barely had to break a sweat. That’s just sadface.

The two winners did great though. Made it look way too easy. Also thought Issa vs Tuerxen was a lot of fun, and we won’t see many sweeter hooks this year than the one Adriano Martins landed to knock out Puig.

Yeah, what was up with that? It was sad, and I was crying out to Herb when he got cut that he needed to stop it.

Body shot clinic! Gotta love Donald Cerrone. The girlfight was great too, but dang, did you see the x-ray of Duke’s hand? That sumbitch was crunchified.

    Heh heh.

Yeah, that was good stuff. Love me some Edson, too.

McGregor’s definitely gonna be interesting. Will he buckle under the pressure?

For a “cursed” PPV those five main card fights ended up being a ton of fun. Even Ferguson vs Castillo in spite of Danny Castillo’s attempts to turn it into a non-fight. I don’t think Tony Ferguson will ever hold the belt but he’s incapable of being in a boring fight.

It was a nice card, for sure. The Castillo/Ferguson fight was hard for me to call, because I don’t like either one of them.

I love El Cucuy. He gives some of the best interviews this side of Conor McGregor, is a real nerd about the game and is fearlessly attack-minded to the point it costs him. If he had fought more conservatively Danny would have spent must less time on top and the win for Tony would have been more comprehensive, and Tony knew that but he went for shit anyway. Naive? Probably. Very fun to watch? Fuck yes.

I was so nervous I couldn’t even enjoy the fight but when Roy fell and it was over I jumped up and ran around my living room hollering and hooting. You might even have heard me all the way in DFW.

I said to April “Bucho must have lost his shit” when we saw that.

Here’s Rogan with Eddie Bravo and the Fighter and The Kid guys, Brendan Schaub and Bryan Callen, doing their “Fight Companion” podcast during the Mark vs Roy fight.

Particularly love Brendan’s expression after the big shot lands.

Dana: “Here’s the thing: If you go down the list, every one of those guys has fought Jose Aldo already,” White told UFC.com. “Conor hasn’t. So who do you line up next for the champ other than Conor? Everybody else has fought him.”

Me: “@danawhite Conor’s great but if Cub beats Frankie he’ll be a far more legit contender. And his loss to Aldo was 5 YEARS ago for fuck’s sake.”

    Robby: “?”

I can see that at this point, Conor has proven that he is “the real deal”, and many are now wanting to see him fight for the title. If you don’t give him the title fight, what do you do with him? Why would you risk the rise of what many consider to be the hottest star in MMA by putting him against anyone else besides the champion?

However deserving someone else may be for a title shot, the UFC isn’t about that. They’re in it to make the most amount of money by making the biggest fight, and there is nobody bigger right now than Conor. From the UFC’s point of view, anyone else that might be “deserving” can fight whoever wins between Conor and Aldo/Mendes.
