Here’s the thing about Belcher: 9 UFC wins, 8 of them finishes evenly split 4/4 between tkos and subs. Dude is a multi-dimensional, attack-minded sonofabitch. Of his 13 UFC fights only 2 went to decisions and even when he has gone to the judges one of them was a Fight Of The Night. He hasn’t beaten any top 10 guys yet, but you’re practically guaranteed a fun fight whether Alan Belcher wins or loses. If you’re not a fan of a guy who decides to engage in a game of footsy with a knee-destroyer like Palhares you’re a hard man to please Rob Michaels.

Joe Lauzon is a very similar type of fighter in that he hasn’t shown he has what it takes to hold the belt, but he’s NEVER boring. A 29 fight career, with ONLY ONE DECISION! And even when he went to that single decision it was a FIGHT OF THE NIGHT PERFORMANCE! I’M SHOUTING MY LOVE FOR J-LAU INTO THE COMPUTER WITH MY CAPS LOCK!

I don’t know about Boetsch either. When he beat Okami it was an amazing comeback but he’d been completely tooled for the first two rounds. The Lombard fight was just odd.

I feel like I just got schooled. Especially with you using my name like that Bucho McAwesomethighs. Yeah, maybe it’s just because he never has really fought some top 10 guys, except for Palhares, and I will admit, that was impressive.

I’m glad you share my love for the Lauman.

    Eh … Belcher is over-rated.

Funny. I was going to post something, but hadn’t gotten around to it. This is better.

Something strange happened during the Main Event that I did not expect. As I said, I wanted Cain to win. But when Cain knocked JDS down and started wailing on him, I started to tear up. Like really almost cry. I just got really emotional, and I figured out why. I had underestimated the amount of footage I had watched on JDS since the first fight, and I really find his story to be pretty memorable, and he’s a legitimately sweet guy. The thing about any competition, which is something that I think we as outsiders and spectators forget sometimes, is that this is their life. They spend months preparing and sacrificing to entertain for a half hour. And all of the stories, like the kid JDS brought to one of the main events, or the way that his life has changed since he got the belt, all of those came to the surface as I saw him getting beat down, and it just got extremely sad to me. And the way he looked, all defeated and misshapen, it was just a weird mix of emotions, especially after jumping up and down during the Miller/Lauzon fight.

And c’mon, who could not be a fan of Joe after that fight?

Joe’s a fucking animal. Loved how Jim Miller came at him too – what sweet striking he’s developing.

I get what you mean about JDS. When he was champ The Baddest Man On The Planet was also The Most Loveable Man On The Planet. Crazy how much heart he showed too. All he needed to do was cover up and not fight back and Herb would have stepped in and ended it but Junior never quit.

As for my man Alan Belcher, twice he outfoxed Okami on the takedown to land on top and twice he grabbed Okami’s neck and pulled guard. That’s the “problem” with the killers like Belcher and Lauzon. They want finishes so they will take the killshot even when it’s lower percentage and is probably going to lead to them being in a bad spot. The same thing that’s lead to them building entertaining highlights reels had lead to them being on the reels of other fighters too.

Man, Anthony Pettis made Cowboy look like a complete novice. Way faster, way crisper, way more inventive. Jumping knee off the cage and everything. I’m bummed he’s going to wait for his title shot instead of taking another match-up in the interim but after what happened with Guida it’s really hard to blame him.

Yeah, Pettis looked awesome. It’s a shame that it looks like Rampage’s career is over, but I’m looking forward to what he’s going to do in the future. There’ve been so many great fights over the last couple of weeks that it’s hard to keep up.

Are you able to watch the Ultimate Fighter? The first episode was really awesome, as there were some really good contenders on there. Apparently next week, there’s a fight that so brutal that Dana said it’s one of the worst finishes he’s ever seen, period.

Sure do, in fact this season we seem to be getting TUF within a day of it screening in the US. Liked the more personal approach of the first ep. Some interesting prospects in there, including our boy Dylan Andrews.

Uriah Hall has a bunch of hype but I saw a fight between him and Chris Weidman on a shitty YouTube vid and Weidman did to him what he does to everyone. Of course that was more than two years ago so I’m sure he’s improved since then. I liked his creativity and range in the qualifying fight.

It’s really starting to become an obsession for me. TUF on Tuesday, Bellator on Thursday, and UFC on Saturday.

The one thing I don’t like about the new TUF is how they’re filming it. They get a little cute with the fast zooms and especially during the fights they rack it in too tight on some close-ups. Like in the Barnatt/Gilbert fight Luke was pulling that leg trip from the clinch and the first couple of times he did it you couldn’t tell what he was doing because the legs weren’t in the frame.

Everything else is great though. We’re also finally seeing the Aussie/UK series which had some fun characters (can’t get enough of Freakshow Colin Fletcher) and some mean action too. I just didn’t have time to watch it off of UFC.com when it was first shown but it’s interesting to catch up on TV even knowing who wins.

Just judging the first two episodes, this one far surpasses last season with Carwin and Nelson. You had two or three fucksticks that I wanted to be seen drowning in a pit while fire arrows were shot down at them and fire ants were building rafts in order to swim over to eat their faces. And the guy that won from there was that lay-and-pray Colton Smith guy, although I think Mike Ricci will end up being the better fighter career wise. I like the look of it, and the fighters are more engaging.

Have to say, didn’t watch the Australian/UK TUF, mainly because I was not aware of when it started. All of a sudden it was like, oh, hey, Pearson and Strombolifahrvegneugenmetropolis is fighting.

Pretty sure you can still watch them off of UFC.com and maybe even off the YouTube. Mike Ricci is fighting Colin Fletcher so we’ll get an idea of the relative qualities of the seasons because those were the two runners up. The Carwin/Nelson season was kind of a drag though. Old “Let Me Bang” Mohawk McGhee seemed like he needed some serious counselling so I couldn’t even laugh at his ridiculousness. It’ll be interesting to see what happens when Colton comes up against a similar high volume ground specialist though. The dude has a huge motor and massive self-belief.

Remember the other day when we were talking about the kimura from side control transitioning into an armbar Robby? Is this what you meant?

Someone just needs to go ahead and throw in baby oil and some dildos… Because I’m tired of expecting it and getting no payoff. It makes it weird to read this thread with my pants off.

And I think we both know who you mean by “someone”.

    (You mean Rosie O’Donnell, right?)
