ParticipantHoly shit, guys – did you see that Miguel Torres has been released from the UFC over a frickin’ tweet? Granted, it was a tasteless rape joke, but damn. Torres tweeted “If a rape van was called a surprise van more women wouldn’t mind going for rides in them. Everyone likes surprises.”
Then Rashad Evans said during a press conference, talking to Phil Davis – “I guarantee you’ll be the first one to take a (wrestling) shot. Guarantee. Because I’m going to put my hands on you worse than that dude did them other kids at Penn State.” Nothing happened to him.
Jeez, guys.

Participantso gay jokes on TUF on national tv are okay but an old rape joke is over the line? i thought the Ultimate Fighting Championship (see what i did there? little reference to your ‘dumb things’ thread. i’m awesome.) was a safe place for guys to be guys.
oh, wait. i get it. mexicans are the new blacks? (no offense to half blacks, Rob)

ParticipantYou guys watching this? The Mir/Nogueira fight – holy shit that turned my stomach.
Jung/Hominick – just wow.
And hey, Britney’s back! 😀

ParticipantJones/Machida. Just absolutely bad ass. Don’t want to say more just in case somebody’s watching it later.
Of course, happy to see Britney back, and then just read that she’s going to be in the March Playboy! Now THAT’S some good news, just in time for my birthday! (This will be much more welcome than seeing old to’ up Lindsay.)
And just in case you don’t remember – check out some of those pics…damn that girl.

ParticipantYeah, I had a chat with Dana and told him you were missing her a lot and he told me he’d see what he could do to get her back in the fold. You can thank me in that solo you plan to record before Christmas.
I was hoping my man Lyoto from Belem would win or if he lost to at least take it to the championship rounds so I’m bummed how it turned out but at least until the fight hit the ground Lyoto proved that even with his 10-in reach advantage Bones is very much mortal on his feet against a well-rounded striker with some speed. It’s just a shame there aren’t many more at 205 who can do that like Lyoto can.
And what is it with those Black House boys not tapping? Big Nog gets his shoulder snapped and Lyoto goes to sleep … is that some warrior’s code stuff or just a coincidence?

Participantfantastic card all around.
Jones/Machida was awesome. Britney was awesome. (thought of you Rob when i saw her. but not in a homo way. though i would have sex with you if it meant i could have a go at her. but that’s neither here nor there so i don’t know why i’m still talking about it.)

ParticipantThis is pretty nifty if you’re a fan of Anderson. If not it’ll probably just piss you off.
Might want to mute the YouTube and put your own soundtrack to it though.

ParticipantWas UFC-142 was the best main card in freakin forever or what? Apart from the dodgy DQ on Erick Silva it was just pure awesome.
Aldo taking off into the crowd wild with emotion was the perfect way to sum the whole deal up. Just amazing entertainment start to finish.

ParticipantI must agree. Like the wind.
Barboza – I’ve been watching him for a while. I hate to say it, but he reminds me of Cerrone only…better.
And how can you not love Jose Aldo? He has a childlike enthusiasm that I just love. I love how gracious he is, too – the last convention they had in Houston, the UFC had sort of a photoblog going on, and Jose was in 90% of the pictures.

ParticipantThose really are pretty good, just because I’ve never really seen a lot of Diaz “behind the scenes”. I still think he and his brother are dumber than a bag of rocks, but seeing that one shot of Diaz from second grade was very telling.
I want Condit to win because I think he’s a better overall fighter and makes for a better role model for the sport.
But I also want Diaz to win simply because his camp has already said that if he wins, the next time he’ll fight is to unify the title against GSP, and as you’ve seen, GSP REALLY wants to fight Diaz.
It’s strange though – what makes Nick so hard to beat is that his boxing is constantly improving and he has no gas tank. I think I know how to beat him. You would have to come out strong and knock him out as quickly as possible. He has a great chin, but he has been knocked down quite a bit. I think Daley had him rocked twice in the first round. Each of Diaz’s strikes aren’t as strong as Condit’s, but as we know, if you allow him, he will never stop throwing them. It’s actually very smart – why throw haymakers at 100% and possibly tire yourself out when you can constantly throw strikes at 60%? I’m so excited for this fight, because I can see it going either way.

ParticipantYeah, I guess if you’re Condit you watch the first round of Nick/BJ and try to replicate how BJ was beating Nick and try to land one of those killer shots on him. Nick doesn’t move his head much so he might end up eating the same knee Kim did, and when Carlos hurts a mofo he finishes a mofo. Dude has 27 wins and 26 were by either ko/tko or subs. Natural Born Killer indeed.
I have a soft spot for the Diaz brothers though. They seem like guys who grew up in a real tough home environment but chose various sports as outlets for their hurt and aggression instead of crime. They both wear mean exteriors but the wounded soul underneath shows through too. Neither of them are too great at talking but you don’t get to where they’ve got to if you don’t possess a lot of knowledge and a fast enough brain to know how to deploy that knowledge under intense pressure.
I mean, I’m not a doctor (anymore) but I wonder if what comes across as dumbness could be just the verbal manifestation of an almost phobic reaction to the media. Obviously it’s a necessary part of his job but that defensiveness toward strangers that he developed growing up is magnified a hundred thousand-fold when he’s put in front of hundreds of thousands of strangers via microphones and cameras. And when your upbringing has conditioned you not to give too much away verbally but to be handy with your fists it’s no surprise to hear the few people who are close to him say he’s far more comfortable expressing himself through martial arts rather than talking.
Fucked if I know. I can’t wait for that main event though.

ParticipantDid you ever get to see any of the Diaz Strikeforce fights? Not sure how readily available those are there, but damn, that Daley/Diaz fight was great.
And, please tell me you’re kidding about the doctor thing. I don’t need more reasons to believe that my life has been worthless.
