ParticipantGood question. Maybe it’ll work better on the x86 Macs.
If you have any questions about Ubuntu, I’d be happy to help out. One thing to keep in mind is, when you first see the desktop, if you don’t like the way it looks or acts, you can change it in almost any way you want.
Without using anything extra, you can put panels wherever you want, hide them however you want (if you want to get really deep, you can even specify how many pixels of the panels are visible when it’s hidden, etc.) add transparency, and more. Not to mention you can change the icon theme, the controls / widget theme, and the window decoration theme (the title bar and the window control buttons) all individually to get just the overall theme you want, all with just a few clicks of the mouse.
When you start adding in desktop customization tools such as gdesklets, which are even scriptable, you can do just about anything you want.

ParticipantThe first desktop is a Mandriva system running Gnome. I don’t remember what distro the second desktop is using, but it’s a KDE desktop using SuperKaramba.
Personally, even though I have Mandriva on my desktop computer right now, I would recommend either Ubuntu / Kubuntu or Suse. Any distro can run either Gnome or KDE (or both), and both desktops can achieve similar results, Gnome using gdesklets and KDE using SuperKaramba.

ParticipantHere’s a screenshot of my desktop.
And here’s a screenshot of the desktop of a guy I know. Even though it’s not my desktop, I still thought it was interesting enough to include here.
Both are Linux desktops.

ParticipantHow about, “the fly’s thighs.” But maybe that’s a good thing too. I dunno.

ParticipantHere’s the reason I gave for why they should move on to the next round:
They’re not just dumb funny. They don’t say “poo” just because they can. They’re smart funny. Than can go from shaking each other’s Johnsons to a really complex joke in just a few sentences. And, they give you that much sought after sense of being a part of something. Like you were just one of the group.

ParticipantSure, it wouldn’t be too hard. But, I think if Switched On wins, they should win because they’re just that good. Which they really are. Not because we had to resort to cheating. Now boobies, that’s another story.

ParticipantI found this pic of a skinned x-box whilst surfing around.
