Honestly this show sounds like nothing has changed at all. Total good feel to it (other than not leaving the silence in) and lots of funny jokes. Glad to hear you are all still doing well

I’m still looking for the Pimp-ho photo, I came in after the first forums were destroyed so never got to see it.

Maybe we can get Brian to finish his up if we bribe him with one of these:

American cows are known for their perfect Dippin Dots formulated milk – with all those chemicals already in their bodies, the milk just comes out in larger pellets that need only be refined by hand. It would make more sense for one of us to get the franchise here.

I’d do it too but it’s out of the question in Canada since the permits required to process Dippin Dots are all being held in the dungeons on parliament hill, and I have no idea how to get past the second gate.

You guys are more into the new trends than I am

I’m a part of the camp that thinks that constant GPS, constant video, etc. are waaaay to intrusive in case anyone is collecting that information. Imagine having the ability to lure a huge amount of people to one place, or have them on the ground somewhere where you need video and audio surveillance…..

Maybe it’s a bit paranoid but hey, who knows

Maybe the forums will pick up when Bucho finishes his time machine and brings the world back to 2004

I’ll probably cave when Disney releases 4K Star Wars, probably original six in a few years then all nine later on.

I really liked that video tearing apart the VFX work, really cool.

I can confirm I have not been calling in any holy intervention to fuck you over, promise.

You might be eating better than 20 year old me at the moment (I lived off pasta and peanut butter) Although I will say for sure I considered Velveeta shells orgasmic one day – if they are the same up here as in the GOOD OL’ U S AND A. I tried them one day and honestly they kicked Kraft Dinner straight out the window. It’s always difficult when you’ve got your nutrition tapped in to you but I would imagine your body is very happy to meet some solid food after dealing with all that liquid.

Unless you’re into the whole “Soylent” thing that is basically food paste.
    That’s just weird though.
    But it’s cheap…

You have a good point about the buildup to this story, so from that perspective I can see why they went with the narrative they did in this movie. I’m also really hopeful for the rest of the trilogy and hopefully some spin-offs.

It was really quick now that I think about the story line, and your point about lack of development of the First Order is well taken. Other than a big friggin’ laser they don’t have much else (unless you count the bad guy’s temper tantrum which actually made me laugh in the theatre)

That’s a crazy amount of money you would have had to pay, so thankfully you have some working insurance. And I can imagine the codeine really isn’t much for that, I couldn’t even imagine being in your situation though. Good on you dude for sticking it out though, not many people can say they’ve got real scars for going through some serious shit

I watched this at the end of December – the plot of A New Hope screamed out during the whole movie and I couldn’t really enjoy it as much as I wanted. I tried to suspend my knowledge that this story was very similar but it just couldn’t happen.

As far as the rest of the movie goes, it looked great and the time really flew by. I watched it in the “Ultra AVX” theatres we have here in Canada, 3D and improved sound. I wonder if they flubbed the mix on purpose to make people go back more often? Didn’t have that issue as I went a few weeks after release.

I dislike the film because JJ’s signature is all fucking over it. The biggest thing that stuck out to me was the “comedic interjections” that he threw in, where the story is going along all seriously and the narrative is working, then all of a sudden you have Finn or someone say “what does that mean, like seriously? No really.” It halts the movie so suddenly and it happens more than once. In my opinion these kind of scenes are completely worthless in the franchise. He did it in the new Star Trek movies (also ruined imo) and I really hated it then too. Maybe it’s just not my style, I prefer a clearcut serious narrative.

Will I see it again? Yes, on bluray or 4k when it comes out. Will I see VIII? Probably, with a new director maybe they can save it completely.

Did you follow any of the more “political-based” coverage of the production? (you may have covered this earlier in the thread but I only skimmed it) Apparently lot more progressive narrative was planned to be put into this movie but the execs or whoever pushed back really hard because it deviates from what the franchise is all about. Maybe it’s speculation or whatever but I think this movie could have been ruined if Hollywood got their hands all over it.

It’s all my opinion, of course. I think I come from a totally different place than you folks as I grew up in the generation where I II and III came out and were the cult classics of the time, although I watched and loved IV, V, VI, before the new ones came out. They weren’t new releases in my time and I didn’t grow up with them, but I can still see the impact they would have made at the time and the strength of the stories throughout.
