ParticipantI think I was reaching an age in Middle school where I was getting more into clothing, scale models and less into toys. I never really got into transformers for this reason. I never bought any or got any for gifts. Although I think I did get a Go-Bot for a gift. But I didn’t have much interest. I was more into electronics and getting into keyboards and music.
I do remember Bryan having many of these things. And we stole a kids gun transformer (what’s the name?) I also remember watching some of the cartoons with Bryan when we were young. I just didn’t get it. I did think is was cool that they transformed. But a story behind it was never anything to me.
More things passed me by but I did have an eye on it. Does anyone remember M.A.S.K.? And then there were garbage pail stickers, Muscle Men, and Micro Machines. By the time I was in high school, I just didn’t care about anything else that came out. In fact the more stuff that came out, the more I would think it was weird. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? WTF is that all about? Power Rangers? Or maybe I just grew up more and couldn’t realize how kids like stuff like that. But that’s just it…kids have an open imagination and aren’t as critical as adults.
Now I just buy some toys to collect and sell again, or I just think they’re cool.
So the nerdy part of me will collect Star Wars Droid Action Figures. I had collected 1997-2002. Then they were stolen out of my apartment. I began collecting again in 2004. But only droids. There are just too damn many now.
Now the kind of stuff Robby has, like that kick ass Darth Vader, that stuff rules. I still want a full size, fully operatable Astromech Droid.
I like titties.

ParticipantOkay, either people are going to agree with me or give me hell about it, but I was really into He-Man growing up. Of course, that was way before I knew what “this is gay” meant. When they started doing the new shows and releasing the new toys a couple of years ago, it was like reliving my past. Then, of course, they cancelled the show and it pissed me right the hell off. Oh well. And Jerry, you’re thinking about Megatron (transforming into a gun).
Was I the only one who was into He-Man?

ParticipantI used to have some M.A.S.K. toys, and a bunch of Garbage Pail Kids cards. I used to have a ton of Muscle Men, and I still have them somewhere. I had a lot of Micro Machines just because people would keep giving them to me. Though I do still have the Micro Machines Space Star Wars Imperial Forces Gift Set collector’s edition from 1994 mint in its box behind me.
With He-Man, I watched the show and I had some of the toys, but I was never really that into it. I used to pull the arms off all the figures and switch them around.

ParticipantMy first keyboard was small and black and had about 12 keys. It only had two sounds — piano and organ, the organ simply being the piano sound without the decay.
It had one more key that was a “space” key. It had a memory that could hold about 20 notes, but when you recorded a song, you didn’t do it in real-time. You would hit one note and then the next, and if you wanted a space where there weren’t any notes playing, you’d hit the “space” key.

ParticipantMy first keyboard was a Magnus Chord Organ http://www.combo-organ.com/magnus.jpg It had a fan that created the air to pass through like an accordian. It sucked. I was 8 at the time. My first electronic keyboard was a Yamaha PS-200 at age 12, followed by Yamaha PSS-170 at age 14 http://www.castelar-digital.com.ar/images/teclado1.jpg then there was a Casio SK-1 that I ripped off http://digilander.libero.it/vacca_stracca/immagini/vaccastraccaelectronicstudio/synths&co/casio-sk1.JPG My last non pro board was a Yamaha PSR-47 at 17 (Which Howard Jones autographed and I still own) http://iwatam-server.dyndns.org/music/kbd2.jpg
My pro gear would take up an entire thread. So maybe more of that another time if you really want to know.
I like titties.

ParticipantAAAYYY Frank!
I was more into the Star Wars action figures and transformers. By the time He-Man made it big I had already been seduced by the dark side of video games…..I’ve never come back.
Does this make you a geek…absolutely, just like the rest of us.

ParticipantWith names like “Man E Faces”, I was never into He-Man that much. Skeletor acted a lot like Brak to me.
I watched it, but simply because others watched it. Transformers and G.I. Joe was what I was really into.

ParticipantAnd then along came Thundercats and Battle of the Planets.
Probably won’t be long before they turn them into a film as well 🙂
If it doesn’t work, jam a screwdriver in there and jiggle it about.

ParticipantWell if this is a hit, y’alls generation will be exploited and profited. This was way before my time. My favorite cartoons as a kid are all ready movies, X-Men, Spiderman, Power Rangers…………… good times….good times…………

ParticipantBattle of the Planets! Yes! Or Star Blazers! YEAH! Make movies of THAT shit!
June 12, 2006 at 12:11 am #11408digitaltopia
ParticipantMy votes are for Thundercats and Voltron (the original one, where the individual robots were cats, not the cheap knock-off that came a few years later where they were all cars).
Jerry, I’d love to see a list of all your pro gear. I find that kind of stuff really interesting. My current keyboard is a Yamaha DGX305 http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/Images/KeyboardsDMI/Product/Enlarged/DGX305enlarged.jpg though I drool over the Yamaha Tyros and Tyros2, and the Korg Triton and Karma.

KeymasterI watched the GI Joe and the Transormers a lot, got into Thundercats and of course the original Voltron too… but Robotech is the one I felt addicted to.
