    Was it when they had Randy Jackson (the black guy on American Idol) playing bass? I have a video of one of those shows, and he is wearing leather pants, a yellow shirt, playing a pink polkadot P-Bass, and he has a flat-top afro. Hilarity!

    It was in 1984 — they hadn’t invented black people yet.

    (To be serious, I don’t remember if Randy was in the band. It was definitely with Steve Perry.)

    That was the Frontiers tour, I think. Randy joined for Raised on Radio and the following tour.

    Dave Grohl was at the gig, I think Foos were headlining, so everybody was thinking he’d at least play a cameo, maybe the last couple of songs, but he didn’t. Joey Castillo played on that tour.

    Castillo is a good drummer, too. I saw Foo Fighters last year with Weezer. Helluva good show.
