ParticipantOkay, holy holy fuck fuck. To me, that’s the way the Joker’s supposed to be. Just insane. Not goofy. And I really hope that they keep up the stuff with Bats being a detective first and foremost. Because, that’s like, what he is and stuff.
I won’t say any more for those who haven’t seen the trailer, but this is just…wow.

ParticipantI saw the “official” trailer and the extended scene on AICN (them robbing the bank, if you haven’t see it, you can see if it’s still up). I’m very happy this movie feels real and not CGI’ed to death. I think the trailer is great and I will be there opening night to see the movie. The only thing is, I’m still not convinced about Heath Ledger playing Joker. I want to see if he can pull off that kind of crazy for a full movie and make me believe it. I kind of got the feeling that he was channeling “ol’ Jack” a bit from the original (by original, I mean with the Batman AFTER Adam West). Sure, Nickelson’s Joker was a bit campy, but there were a few scenes where you could see the crazy in it’s scariest form.
What I’m hoping, though, is this movie doesn’t become a pop culture casualty, set with catch phrases, zingers etc. Case in point, in the trailer, the Joker says something like “I like’em with a little fight in’em.” And then you see Batman and his line is “Then you’re really going to love me.”
Again, in the massive comic universe, Batman has always been my favorite. There are pictures of me when I was a kid, dressed up like Batman one Halloween and Joker during another Halloween. A friend of mine asked me how I could watch these latest Batman movies after the last ones were so awful and since they killed off pretty much everyone, and I told him I look back on those movies as a cannon unto themselves. This new series is an entirely different story. Same characters, different story.
So, to wrap up, the trailer excites me, I’m still worried about Ledger and I tend to ramble when it comes to Batman. And there you have it.

ParticipantI saw the heist footage as well, and oh yeah it rocks. To me the Joker is best from The Dark Knight Returns and The Killing Joke, especially the latter. He goes for broke, twisted, it’s just the best incarnation of the Joker ever for me. And what I love about this footage is how much he reminds me of that character in Killing Joke.
Heath Ledger doesn’t bother me, and has never bothered me. If you like the guy or not, he’s a real actor. Sure Brokeback’s gayer than playing Frisbee wearing shorty-shorts, but the guy can act. When he was cast, I was content. If they had cast, you know, Paul Walker in it, then I would have been worried.
