ParticipantI guess there’s no real hard complaints about those type of shows. I thought of a thing or two, then realized they weren’t really anything worth bitching about. Like every now and then everyone breaks off into mulitiple conversations at once, and that sometimes you guys periodically ignore the fact that you’re recording or forget all together. None of that is done in a way that it could be taken as any worse than the silent spots of the regular show.
The background noise doesn’t interfere with the comprehension of the conversation more than, say, 10 percent of the time, so no complaints there. It’s a little different to get used to moble shows being done at the frequency it’s at lately, but I still laugh. Is this going to be the normal setup from now on?

ParticipantThe remote shows are a different beast than the regular types. In my opinion it leaves the listener a little more removed from the action than the regular shows. Maybe if you guys threw in little snippets of your day before or after the main part (almost like a movie blooper reel) or something like that it would be more like a “show”.
But the SOS formula is based on “wait and see what happens” and the remote shows are true to that. I don’t expect you guys to stick to a formula just for the sake of sticking to a formula. As long as you guys don’t release a show of the three of you doing an opera or some shit……
….I’d still probably listen…
……not sure what that says about me

ParticipantOr have Jerry bring a portable keyboard and have a money can out for tips as you do the show.

ParticipantIt didn’t seem like “what a regular lunch is like” was much different to how the SOS boys usually hang out. The best difference with outside shows is when you guys engage an outsider, like with Jerry and Rob at Starbucks when that cat comes up to ask for a light and they start a conversation, or whenever you do that with waiting or counter staff. One of my most memorable SOS moments was from 75 with the Walmart visit (Spiderman underpants?). For me that extra element of unpredictability offsets what Bing pointed out in terms of somehow feeling less connected to the conversation. The chatter noise isn’t a huge issue with picking up what’s said but it does get fatiguing if I try to listen to the whole show at once.
If I had to choose between them I prefer the studio shows, but I still think the road shows are really good. I like how it’s mixed up between studio shows and outside shows, especially if it works better for the SOS boys to record on location sometimes.

ParticipantI agree with bucho on this one… the ouside shows add a whole ‘nuther element of unpredictability that really makes ’em special. and the chatter actually caused my head to tingle with a bit of headache for some reason… I had to pause a few times and come back like 10 minutes later… Maybe it’s because I’m trying to listen to the voices but all the background noise kinda gets you buzzing in the head

ParticipantFor me — the “road” shows cover us when either we don’t have all of our equipment, or we don’t feel like doing a regular show during the week. Hopefully there’s still enough funny stuff in there so they’re not boring to listen to, but there’s definitely not a plan for those, usually. “Hey, it’s time to go to Starbucks!” type thing. It’s more of a, hey let’s do this instead this time kind of thing.

Participant2 things
#1= Welcome aboard Orlando, trash pickup is on Wednesday. We have a “no real doll fucking in your front yard” ordinance in effect. Don’t feed The Armez.
#2= Let me state for the record that I am not opposed to any remote show or its creation in any way. It’s simply a matter of me being used to a certain thing and having to adjust. SOS is always a hell of a lot of fun.
I do want to thank the SOS Trio for recording the remote shows when time and work doesn’t allow for you to get everthing together for a “real” show. It would suck having to wait 2 or 3 weeks for a show because you guys couldn’t do one.

KeymasterI also figured that these lunches may not be the best ones to ask about, because, they were fucking LOUD! Next time we do a lunch (later) maybe it should be Wendy’s or something where we can hear ourselves.

Bucho, that Wal-Mart visit from 75 was great! “Yeah, it’s for a school project… I kinda feel bad about it.”
