ParticipantI played on a X8 for a while in my old Jazz Band. The piano samples are unbeatable, probably the nearest to a finely tuned grand that I have ever heard.
Glad you could get a good deal on the one you found. I’m sure you will make great use of it.September 15, 2013 at 6:42 pm in reply to: Follow up to car audio crap from like two years ago #32791Ol’ Ben
ParticipantYeah, the first thing I did was the alternator swap, it made me remember just how much I don’t know about engines. Luckily there was a lot of space in the engine bay because the battery is in the trunk. I’m thinking about doing two deep cycle batteries (I can get them through my dad’s work for pretty cheap), and I read somewhere about an isolator before, so I will probably do that as well.
I have to stabilize the rear deck where I have the front stage components right now, it came loose on the corners and it now has a rattle. That is the only rattle through the car though. The trunk will shake a bit when it is loud, but that is because I ran out of dampener before I could strip and do the trunk.
And yeah, that FI 18″ is rated for 2500rms but people have put 3000+ to it and it does just fine. I skimped on the amplifier a bit (Lanzar OPTI3201D) but for a budget amp this one had the best reviews. I will be upgrading the amp when I can afford to do it.
Plans for the future:Going to either: (if I get a new car) build a wall in the back seat, to put two of those subs in. I could build a box for the two of them, but there is no way I could get it to fit in through the doors.
or, if I don’t get a new vehicle (this is my daily driver), fix the few little issues and put in new terminal connectors to the boxes, fresh batteries, dampen the rest of the car, make the amp rack look sexy, fix dome lights in rear and trunk, install lights to light up the woofer in the back seat, and put some cool lighting in the trunk.September 15, 2013 at 5:50 am in reply to: Follow up to car audio crap from like two years ago #32790Ol’ Ben

ParticipantI would love love love to see some of the old material talked about on the old shows in the gallery or elsewhere. There were a couple pictures of the car crash and pimp-ho I don’t think I have seen. I think someone mentioned pimp-ho might be gone forever.
I would also be excited for a kind of documentary section as well

ParticipantBecause of this show, I can pull humor into conversation and all the material is fresh to non SoS listeners.
Thanks guys!Ol’ Ben
ParticipantGarza has the voice of a really young looking man. Totally not what I expected from hearing his voice on the earlier shows.
Good overall, reminds me of going for lunch while at school.

ParticipantI feel this is becoming a thing.
Maybe I will do one, but usually when I drive, I drive really fast and yell at people. And I don’t really have anything to talk about. Will see.

ParticipantI couldn’t breathe when you asked for the bluebonnet donut, she was probably thinking, “can’t you fucking read?”
I get a kick out of this situational shit
Ol’ Ben
ParticipantHe posted the green screens of, “If you can find a better deal anywhere, we’ll just give it to ya!” and “That’s too cheap!”
Might be fun to play around with them in other commercialsOl’ Ben
ParticipantIs there a history about The Edit records anywhere? You mention doing a Howard Jones album in some of the earlier shows

I’m not authorized to give you that information

ParticipantI liked it. You made a couple good points about people working for the fact that they just want to be done work. I get that feeling up here too. Also digging the video quality and the fact that you can grab and hold my attention more than the projects I’m working on, but I have always been a fan of your rants and talks for a long time.
Also you’re in WA now? Come up to Canada and see the majestic moose some time, I’ll bring you some poutine and you can see my igloo
