So this Trailer releases with The Avengers, but WB posted it already… and in 1080p! um… HOLY SHIT!

I actually felt it has some cool stuff but is kind of flat overall. The audio does great work but too many images don’t land their punches and the editing rhythm is just awkward, with odd choices between cross-fades and cuts. The images feel kind of randomly selected and sequenced and some of them – particularly the plane stuff and the Wayne stuff – don’t pop at all. Anne Hathaway’s parts (God I’d love to get my hands on her parts) do nothing for me either. “There’s a storm coming” is about as hack as it gets for starters. And why does her voice sound weirdly processed? Is she jealous of Bats and Bane?
On the plus side even a 0.6 second shot of Bats’s cape sillhouetted in the wind against the Gotham skyscrapers sets my pulse to racing and my manlove for those magnetic sons of bitches JGL and Hardy flares ever brighter. And Michael Caine saying anything is inherently awesome. I also really liked Bale’s delivery on “Not everything … not yet” and “This isn’t a car”. I maintain that his Batvoice fits and he wears it well. The shot of the bridges being taken out is beautifully ominous too, and the best-timed shot in the trailer in terms of marrying it to the audio.
Meanwhile, I thought this was one of the better trailer mash-ups I’ve seen for a while. Then again, I haven’t seen any for a while, so the bar wasn’t set that high.

I think that my knight rose a bit seeing this. But I do feel that there’s something missing. Maybe it’s because the Joker was so fucking cool, but you know – Nolan hasn’t disappointed me yet.
The trailer does have issues… but there is a ton more in it than we’ve seen already. To me, it feels like a lot of the footage that would have told the story better, isn’t ready for primetime yet, and this is the trailer full of filler. You get a feel for where the story is going, some idea of where the mystery is and more importantly a real look at what Bane is going to be like (other than distant shots of Hardy not looking really big enough to pull off Bane). I felt like the music was super weak for the majority of the first half, felt like the trailer fell into a tired rhythm for trying to hit it’s text supported cuts, and did a cheesy job of using a punchline to deliver a great shot of the bat’s plane. –But I don’t give a shit, this movie is going to be super awesome.
I’ve seem some chatter about what he is going to do with Levitt. I hope it either becomes VERY apparent soon, or stays a total mystery. I don’t want half of the truth delivered to me in trailers. One site tried to say that Levitt delivers the line about it not being a car, but that’s completely fucking stupid. Although inspiring someone else to take up the cape and cowl is not a bad way to go, that scene is definitely Bruce Wayne.
I’m just sad that I didn’t have a chance to watch it on my big TV last night.

This brings up a question that I frequently have on my mind… how does it sound to you guys when other people are on the show? Have I released the show that has Derryk on it yet? Shit, I hate being behind on these things.
I know how some of the shows feel, like guests are trying too hard. I don’t feel like we had that problem with John Michael (in fact some of the most outrageously funny stuff was lost when we lost most of our portable audio… and it was HIM) so I’m not saying this recording would suck, I’m just usually thinking about how this stuff sounds, after the fact.
I usually think the guests do fine, but then I probably cut them some slack because I know how odd it felt to be a call-in guest on the show myself a couple of times. The three of you have such perfect conversational and comedic chemistry that for a guest it’s kind of intimidating just to think about trying not to fuck that chemistry up, let alone worrying about being any kind of entertaining yourself. So I don’t remember ever feeling like a guest was truly ruining the show.
Probably the only real con is that sometimes Jerry seems not to be feeling a guest and he pulls back, but that seems to be in a minority of cases and he usually still comes out with a ton of fun stuff. And that doesn’t happen with Derryk anyway, who’s always done fine as far as I can remember.

Not sure how funny (or audible) it is, but I’ll try and post it later today. We did an hour or so that is before the show, and through the trailers so that you can hear trailer reaction (which was really entertaining as Rob already noted).
I just watched this.
