ParticipantI have an Eee PC. Where’s my love? How long does the Air’s battery last?

ParticipantFunny, I didn’t even mention that. It’s going to be different for everyone, but for me, a typical whatever is being on wi-fi, surfin’ net, and checking mail, and maybe the occassional video. Now for me, getting 3 and a half hours is pretty damn good, but nowhere close to 5 hours. There’s been talk about there being higher whatevers — it’s good, though.
Oh, and the Lindsay photos and porn, well, I am a guy, aren’t I? I’m just saying there’s no big photo stuff with digital cameras.

ParticipantIts about 6 – 7 years old. All I can say is that when November comes, that nice Mac book Pro better be mine instead of being in my boss’ house for the last 7 months.
How can justify that when the company buys a MBPro for the dept to use, especially for the people that need to get use to using it when it spends most of the time at someones house and has not left.

ParticipantSince I’ve seen reviews pop up with an extended use review (i.e., two weeks with the Macbook Air), I thought I’d post my review up until this point.
The Bad:
My number one complaint about it is its poor 3rd party router support. I find that I need to turn Airport (Apple’s fancy name for the built-in Wi-Fi card) off and then back on. Now, this could also be simply that I’m using an older router, but it sure seems to disconnect from it quite a bit. This isn’t an every-five-minutes kind of thing, but it does happen enough for me to notice, if that makes sense. The Good:
Really, everything else. It’s a great thing to not feel limited by something. I understand that this is the slowest Mac in Apple’s lineup, but I never feel it. I used a first generation Macbook Pro for a couple of months, and this doesn’t feel any slower than that. Now keep in mind, I don’t do a whole lot of processor intensive tasks on it — I don’t convert a whole lot of video, my Photoshop use and skills are amateur at best, and I don’t carry around a ton of media around with me.
I’ve found that no matter how big (or small) my hard drive tends to be, I still need to use an external drive, because I absolutely will fill it up. For me, a smaller hard drive forces me to clean house a bit more, and in general, more picky about what I have on my computer. I also have always tried to live with the bare minimum when it comes to my digital self, and if something’s important enough that I never want to lose it, I make sure I have a backup somewhere. So the 80 gb hard drive is perfectly fine for me.
I want to reiterate the deceptiveness about it — when you carry it around, it’s superfuckin’ light. Love carrying this thing around. And I think I said it before — when you open it up, because of its weight, you feel like you’re going to be compromising, but you’re really not. Beautiful screen, nice big keyboard, light as shit — it’s just awesome.

ParticipantI don’t know if anyone still cares, but Macworld just did a “I’ve been carrying the Air for a while and this is what I think” kind of review. It’s a lot like mine, but better worded and with real-life sort of anecdotes that might help.
