The Captain and I have been discussing the promotion of the show again — we still think that there’s a market for this site, our brand of humor and all that, and we think that we can grow this thing again, so we’re asking for your help!
First, we’d like to find clips of our show that predate some of the things seen on Robot Chicken and Family Guy. Obviously, there’s plenty of examples (a lot of the Star Wars references come very close sometimes) but there might be other things that we’re not thinking of that might come close.
Second, we’d like clips that are hilarious to YOU. There’s plenty of things that we think are funny as hell that nobody else really relates to, but it would be great to have ideas of things that attracted YOU to the show. This could be anything from the first segment you heard that made you keep coming back, or it could just be a list of things that come to mind when you think of switched : on.
It would be awesome to have show references (SOS 151, 42:18 – 51:18, for example, is one of my favorite strings of funniness, including the butt cancer and heated ball creme). If you feel like cutting the portion yourself, great — you can attach it in a post here, or email it to switchedonshow@gmail.com, but just a simple show reference with the time is fine, too.
Over the next few months, we’ll be hitting the promotion avenues hard again, so the more information we get the better. Hopefully we can get the show and the site back to its former glory!
I’m speaking for myself here, but I’d bet that show/site popularity would very likely affect show frequency. I know it would affect release windows for sure. 🙂
About what Rob is asking, I’m especially interested in things that have come up on both Robot Chicken and Family Guy, similar and I know a few were supposedly exactly the same. I think these are super important to draw parallels to (maybe we have somewhat similar audiences), but more self-servingly… if there really is a current, former or one-time listener among their collective crews, I want to work that shit like a hooker working a stroke activated crack dispenser. I don’t even know what the fuck that means.
Why, did you lose us in the big brain of yours? Are you humping your keyboard? Was there a longer message that you forgot to submit?

The very first episode of Program Switch I ever listened to was the first time Jerry brought his keyboard on. That’s when he played Jump like a church song. I love musical comedy. I was hooked.
I found the show on Podcast Alley back before iTunes was doing podcasts, and the phrase “pooping bears” in the description really stuck out, and that’s why I clicked in the first place.
As for rebuilding the show, I’ve learned from personal experience both from the projects I’ve done on my own and the projects I’ve done and am doing with Bucho that the number one way to build a solid listener base, aside from good content, is consistent releases.
Was that a shot from the ‘topia?
