It comes more from being very familiar with something serious, and turning that into something funny. Office Space failed not because it’s a good movie, but because it is a funny movie. It stands on it’s own as funny, and is more quote worthy, than commentary worthy.
I get what you mean, there’s no argument about comedy vs drama as fodder for this stuff, and obviously there’s way more to the SOS vibe than just taking the piss. I guess what really happens is when it’s a poor film all those alternate situations, funny voices etc aspects of the SOS commentary can be taken as spoofing when it’s not being done with that goal. And actually I don’t want to overanalyse it or make you guys overthink it because the magic works better when it’s more off-the-cuff and if you’re second guessing yourself the fun can be squeezed out of it. The best way to find out what different things work is to try everything out.
Either way, I’d still be into hearing a big breakdown discussion of the Matrix the same way as the EP93 Star Wars one.

There were so many, I can’t remember…… but most of the time I didn’t remember leaving them anyhow…..I’ve been trying to remember, but something about you having butt sex with some chick, you going to sleep, she went downstairs to clean or something, and then an axe murderer came in and hacked her breasts off and kept them as trophies, and then joined an anti-abortion group or something…
I might be getting some stories mixed up…
