ParticipantI really loved the part about 44:40 in where Rob (I think it’s Rob) does the little Gregorian chant. I had to listen to that a few times. Then again, maybe it’s Jerry. It’s hard to tell with all the reverb.

ParticipantYeah, that was me. That sounded kinda cool.

The heavy reverb bit was cool, with the water drip sounds and chants. I also loved the bit where Bryan wants all people who yell at the TV in sports matches killed. Guilty as charged dude, I’m a fuckin hollerer when the NZ rugby team plays. When we play Australia the fuckin’ Aussies can hear me.

Keymasterhahahahaa… that Shelly lube thing is cool. I made pretty good water drip noises, eh? Thanks!
I pick on everyone, glad you guys always take it so well.

ParticipantYeah, that reverb part sounded awesome. All of the joke questions in the guessing game were great too. “Do you use it while masturbating?.”
I was hoping that one of you guys would pick someone’s ass or something for the object. That would have been hilarious. I can imagine it now. “Is it above eye level?” “Only if your head’s up your ass!”

ParticipantWanna know how much of a fan I am of switched:on? Wanna know why no one could say I’m not?
I’ve listened to both Star Wars commentaries without being remotely close to a tv, let alone the fact that I have no intentions of ever seeing the first three ever again or seeing the newest three ever. That’s why, damn it! Still, hearing you guys bullshit makes me laugh. In fact, I’d buy the fuckin’ movie if you guys really did that redubbing idea, because I thought it sounded cooler ‘n shit. If that ever becomes a real project, I’d be auditioning right along with everyone else.
You know what you guys really need to do though is the first Matrix movie. THAT’s a movie I’m into and would actually be able to watch it while listening the way it was intended.

KeymasterWe talked a bit about movies to do that won’t suck like Office Space did. On the list (and we really aren’t taking ‘requests’) right now for future movies:
Indiana Jones movies
Superman movies
and possibly the Matrix movies. From a content standpoint, the only trouble I see with doing the Matrix movies, is that we already do a lot of “No, I can’t.. I won’t”, “Mr Anderson” and “purpose” impressions… I don’t know if our listeners will sit through 2 hours of that, times 3. Plus, the movies are so cool, I think you’d hear us loving the movie much more than giving a new perspective of it. I could be wrong though.
Superman is my favorite pick right now. “Say man, that’s a bad outfit! Wooooo!”

ParticipantI’m not going to throw requests around, but I’m going to say I hope you guys seriously consider it later in the future if it comes up again. I don’t know about anyone else, but The Matrix is my Star Wars.

ParticipantI really don’t see how you can’t like Star Wars, Scatt, but it’s aight. The Matrix is a great series of movies. I really think that it might end up more of a philosophical discussion. But who knows? I’m glad you like the commentaries, though, because they sure are a lot of fun to do.

ParticipantI really can’t say that I couldn’t like Star Wars. I wouldn’t go so far to say I’m completely anti, but I’ve never had the opportunity of convenience to sit and watch any of the six movies. I’m not interested enough to run out and get them. I will say that I would want to see them again because if I remember right Han Solo is a bad mamajama.

ParticipantWhat is he doing?
He’s beginning to believe.
Yeah I’m quite a huge Matrix fan even if it was 3 years later.
I like titties.

The reason Office Space didn’t work anywhere near as funny as Phantom Menace is because Office Space is a good movie and Phantom Menace is an overblown mess that thinks it’s a good movie. So instead of show content while watching Office Space the boys ended up just wanting to watch the movie and there’s long spells of the show which are empty of comment. I’m guessing but I think the most successful SOS commentaries will end up being drama or action films that take themselves too seriously and fail but have some fun things in them so they’re at least watchable. Completely rancid turds like Titanic or Pearl Harbour are easy to take the piss out of but just not likeable in any way. Some Arnie and Stallone films would be hilarious.
The really cool films like original Matrix and Raiders would be better for Reflections or just talk about them the same way as the way Star Wars was disected in 93, picking out all the cool scenes and dialogue bit by bit and not having to be dictated what you’re talkng about by the place you are in the film.
Of course I could be talking complete shit and by this stage I’m a lost cause like Scatt, I’ll listen to every minute of SOS no matter what’s the subject or how long the games go or how many belches assault my delicate sensibility. I’m no Newman, but I’m hardcore SOS. That’s just how I roll.

KeymasterI don’t totally agree with that, because we aren’t just making fun of the crap problems with the film (like with TPM), part of it is making humor about alternate situations, character voices, facial expression or anything at all. It comes more from being very familiar with something serious, and turning that into something funny. Office Space failed not because it’s a good movie, but because it is a funny movie. It stands on it’s own as funny, and is more quote worthy, than commentary worthy.
That said, Indy flicks would probably work, because there is plenty to turn into a joke. The Matrix could be a problem because it’s so quotable, and so cool that it might make it hard to really make a good commentary of. I could rip on stuff in Reloaded and Revoloutions, but I’m with Rob, it would more likely take on a philosophical discussion, and that’s more of an offline discussion ( ala Reflections) than it is commentary material.
I have other ideas in my list, but we’ve got a few things in front of it yet.
