I wasn’t but I wish I was.
What annoys you about making two part shows? Is it because it’s more work for you to find a good cut point? Is it because it feels somehow unnatural? Is it because you hate anything that’s part of a pair that doesn’t have nipples?
I prefer files less than 3 hours purely because I’m a dork and I like to make edits to them and more than 3 hour files can be unweildy for that in some ways, but these days the file size itself doesn’t bug me. If you were to go back to 128kbps I wouldn’t cry about it but I still think new people are more likely to try it out if the file size isn’t too mammothesque.

I’d be runtime will scare them off long before filesize does. People don’t typically run from large files, especially with video podcasts out there. But a 6 hour runtime would probably keep them at bay. I doubt a 3 hour runtime does any better.
I don’t like splitting them because it creates an unnatural break point in the show (remember when movies were on two VHS cassettes, and it was super fucking annoying, even when you had them both right there?) and because aggregators will grab only the most recent file (this is my biggest issue), so new people, or casual listeners will get the 2nd half of the show first. I doubt we have a lot of new people trying it out, but dropping right in the middle of one of these huge shows would just be that much more disorienting.
Our show is not listener friendly.
i would love to have a podcast longer than the extended edition of return of the king.
file size/length doesn’t bother me at all. but i will say that 3 hours seems like the SOS number. 3 guys, 3 hours, 3 letters. it’s fate.
