For about 20 minutes now, I’ve been nervous. I felt this way for GSP vs Hardy and Couture vs Coleman. I SO want GSP to beat the hell out of Koscheck.
I have to admit though, Koscheck kinda makes me laugh, even though he’s a prick.
i just finished the fight last night. wow, koscheck’s eye looked nasty but gave me such joy and delight to see. 🙂

It was a great crowd but turned out not to be a night of any tight match-ups. With two very one-sided points decisions and three first round stoppages I felt like it was lacking in a good war or two.
I thought Oliveira vs Jim Miller might be the fight of the night if the main event wasn’t, but Oliveira got caught so quickly. After seeing him be so entertaining against against Escudero I was really amped to watch him again, but I guess he learned his first hard MMA lesson instead.
And GSP is a freak. Amazing athlete, super smart, weird accent … he reminds me of myself. Whoever he gets matched with next is going to be working a lot on their boxing.

That’s the greatest thing about seeing that fight – the Hardy fight was like a jiujitsu school, this was like a striking school. I do wish he could have knocked Kos out because he wouldn’t have been so hard on himself, but that was awesome.
Koschek’s orbital was broke. Even I was wincing watching him wince on the stool before the last round whenever the ice was put to it.
At least he was gracious in defeat.

yeah, koscheck’s attitude in defeat surprised me. i have to give him credit for that.
it really was amazing to see how much faster GSP was. very quick precise jabs from GSP while koscheck was swinging those huge telegraphed circular punches that were nowhere near the mark.

GSP’s not just faster with his hands either, he also has great footwork which makes his range significantly more than other guys of his size. He covers ground with amazing speed. Koschek’s only 33 but he was moving so slow in comparison he looked ten years older. He almost seemed mesmerised.
Apparently GSP’s been training under Freddie Roach lately, which goes a long way to understanding how he’s gotten so sharp in that area.

What’s odd about UFC 125 to me is the main fight is the least interesting prospect in terms of entertainment. I’m still curious to see it, but I find Stann vs Leben a much more fascinating match-up, not to mention Clay Guida and Nate Diaz being two of the most fun fighters to watch.
