So I woke up this morning planning to listen to some of my podcasts in iTunes, and guess what I found? Absolutely nothing! My music, videos, and podcasts were all gone. I tried to reload the XML library folder, but no luck.

I was able to get all my music back in there, but all of the ratings are gone. I have a library of about 1100 songs, and most of them had a rating. Now I gotta do all that again, and I’m pissed..

That rating part of it sounds mega-frustrating. I decided one day to start rating (lasted about a week, off and on) and it was loads of work. Tough break.

Pardon me for my ignorance — but what’s the point of rating them? Does the artist get an extra nickel or something?

It’s just for your own benefit, as long as you’ve got one. I didn’t myself, so I axed the pain away. It’s hard enough to keep organized genres.

Yeah, I kinda forget what songs I like, so I’ll make a playlist of the 5-star rated songs and listen to that. It’s not necessary, but helpful.

At the time, I tried to make my own design for star-ratings. I thought 1 or 0 stars wouldn’t mean ‘absolute shit’ (because why would I want what I perceive to be absolute shit on my player?). I think it was:

    5: Absolute favorite
    4: Fantesticle!
    3: Good
    2: Mediocre
    1: Eh…

    …Too much fuckin’ work.

I’ve never bothered to use it either. Then, my iPod hasn’t been powered up since I used it as a hard drive during the great MBP crash of 2006.

That will be a day long remembered…it saw the death of the MBP, it will soon see the death of…okay, I’m done.

I’m too lazy to rate my songs, in fact, I dont even bother to show the ratings.

    And for Rob: BOOBIES!!! YEAH!!

It sucks that a lot of time you put in has gone down the tubes dude but I don’t get why you would have songs you didn’t like on there anyway? Unless you use them for djing parties where people with shit taste are going to want to hear them I guess. You can’t bring sexyback without JT.
