That’s really awesome, Bucho. My problem is that I don’t go to the theater enough to really have a regularly-released show. Man, just don’t know – maybe I’ll just stick to doing mini-shows with video and every now and then do a movie one.
Yeah, I didn’t get to the theatre this weekend either, so I went for a non new-release and did one on Warrior. I’m thinking of trying a different tack with the two-version thing and recording two separate reviews instead of just recording once and cutting two separate reviews from it. It might work out easier, it might work out suckier, but I intend to find out. And I figure if I stay regular enough for The Man to consider me some king of legit maybe I can start wrangling free tickets to previews as an official reviewer of some kind. Possibly the third kind. Because that’s the reason all critics become critics, right? The free tickets?
I hope you keep doing them as long as they’re fun for you to do, and if you keep doing them I’ll keep pimping them. I bought buchosroadreviews.com and expect it to be getting 27,000,000 hits a day by the end of the week, and I’ll feature your vids on there if you don’t want to do your own thing. Or even if you do do your own thing. I’ll feature them like the wind. Until I burn out about ten days from now and go live in The Wilderness and never make another video of anything ever.

It’s pretty much a return to the format I used for The Wolverine to see if I could do it better. I’m definitely way less monotone than that one, but also less “natural”, so you might hate the shit out of this one Robby.

Here’s the short-ass sub 2:00 version of the Warrior review. I ditched the 2:52 one for being in a no-man’s land and cut a sub-2:00 and a 3:16. They’re not much different except for the plot outline, which was mostly just an excuse to do some stupid voices anyway.

So here’s that 3:16 “Full-length” version. There’s not much missing from this, I intentionally recorded a short, fat-free review thinking I would aim at a 3:00 mark. In future I think I’m going to be publishing the 1:50-2:20 version as the lead, and link to a longer 5:00 plus review for anyone who wants to go deeper.
Anyway, that shit’s probably boring to read about, so here’s the vid if you’re not sick of them yet.

Let me know if you need help getting WP going, or what plugins to run and all that jazzy jeff. Take my advice, DON’T use Go Daddy’s WP module, just upload WP on your own and do the install. It will be more stable, and you’ll have more control over the dB.
I’m kinda surprised that the 2 min worked so well. I like the slightly longer one better, but the 2 min one tells me what I’d want to know about the movie. The longer one tells me about the movie, but it’s MUCH more entertaining on it’s own.
Thanks Captain. Yeah, I’m going to do this two-version thing even if the longer versions get far fewer hits just so I can be self-indulgent about it and play with some silly voices and stuff. Even if the extra content isn’t strictly “necessary” hopefully it will entertain folks like you who have the best taste of anyone on The Earth.

Wow, it actually happened. I’m on the front page of a movie website I’ve read almost as long as I’ve been a fan of you guys.

The other option, which is very tempting for someone like me with zero experience in website design or management, is to just map my domain onto a WordPress blog for $13 a year. How dumb is this idea on a scale of one to ten and am I just being a pussy being intimidated by technology like one of those people you hate?
