i think a lot of my love for ridley scott isn’t just the stories of his films (i will cede the position that a lot of them aren’t the best written) but with his scene composition and the way he tells a story without the use of dialogue. i just love the way he makes movies and i love his choices in cinematographers over the years (as well as composers). legend is one of the most elegant looking fantasy films there has ever been. he has a keen eye for talent not only in front of the camera but behind it.

Alien… I’m quite sure that it’s HER that ruined it for me the first time through. I really can’t stand her, I don’t find her to be a particularly good actress, and I’ll always hold it against every movie she is in that anyone regards her as an amazing actress, or pretty/hot/gorgeous or any of that shit.

C’moooooooooooooon, El Capitano, I can dig your overall vibe for Ridley Scott movies, but that’s harsh even for you. To me she’s at least as good an actor as Harrison Ford or Kurt Russell or Keanu or Stallone or Tom Cruise or any other very watchable action star of her generation, and better than most of them. She’s bad when she’s given bad writing to work with, but so is anybody. To me she’s the perfect action hero for Alien and Aliens, and she was great in Ghostbusters and Galaxy Quest too.

Oh shit. I just made you hate her more didn’t I.

agree with this. and though most of the effects shots in blade runner may not have aged well i’ve always enjoyed it more as a noir piece than sci-fi. plus i absolutely love the vangelis score.

That score is a big part of why it doesn’t work as well for me anymore. I like the cheese once in while but that’s not my kind of cheese.

Was that a…hint? I dunno, subtlety doesn’t usually work on me, but…

    Huh? Was what a hint?

    Oh that!?

No, I was just thinking to myself, I didn’t realise I’d said that out loud. But now that you mention it …
