ParticipantI want to see this so damn bad right now. Seriously. What a holy-shit-that’s-so-fucking-awesome-and-I-need-to-see-it-right-now kinda trailer. Ridley, Damon Lindelof writing, and what an awesome cast. Oh, fuck yes.

Participanti want this movie so bad right now. my love for Ridley Scott is no secret and i can’t wait to see another story set in the same universe as the alien movies. i don’t care if it’s not going to directly tie into those movies. the alien universe is as much a visual character as the star wars universe from the original trilogy.
i’ve also heard rumors that Scott wants to do something similar with the blade runner universe.
this is a joyous time for us movie lovers.
My essence still senses Bucho's women.

ParticipantThe Space Jockey figure is a significant part of Prometheus so it is going to tie into Alien. I don’t know if there are going to be xenofucks though.

ParticipantPossible glimpse of a Xenomorph type creature and a Facehugger….but definitely looking different.
BIG JOBBIESMarch 18, 2012 at 11:06 pm #30968Bucho
ParticipantThere’s all manner of creature action going on – the tentacle in Noomi’s boyfriend’s eye gives me both the heebies and the jeebies. I think this may even be all pre-Xenomorph and then the next film will have their creation. I’m talking out my ass/arse of course.
And I have to admit after watching those trailers 57 times each I’m afraid the story could easily come off the rails Stargate/Sunshine style but it looks so damn sexy I’m along for the ride with bells on. On my spacesuit I mean. And by spacesuit I mean my penis. And by bells I mean alien tentacles.
I’ve said too much.

KeymasterI just worry that the trailer has laid out the entire story now, and we are just watching what they filled in the outline with. Especially that full official trailer –I just feel like we know too much already.
People discover a glyph that’s matched all over the world, that appears to be a map of sorts to a planet far away, hinting that humanity needs to go there. We go there (with lots of shiney new bad ass equipment that is just barely in our future, seems oddly early in our space development, yet is capable of so much from home) only to find that things are not what they seem, and as these beings find out about us, they know we are a prime target for their uprising or whatever. They leave this planet after being dormant, and this crew needs to stop them before they destroy Earth, where it is likely that some close-call final battle with ensue either 10 seconds before they enter the Earth’s atmosphere, or as the air-locks crack open on the alien ship.
This trailer really looks like an outline to the whole damn movie, with only the obvious ending missing. It looks cool, but I’m concerned that this will be superficially good at best. I’m really hoping I’m wrong about it, but I just don’t see any place left to do something cool with the movie. It seriously looks like it was cut by some asshole that came out of Empire saying, “…and I can’t believe Vader turned out to be Luke’s father!”.
I liked it better before I saw the last trailer.

ParticipantI read an interview with Ridley and Damon Lindelof (co-creator of Lost, and co-writer of Prometheus) and the interviewer was shown extended clips and stuff and said that none of these trailers scratch the surface. Did anyone see the viral video below?
This is not in the movie. It makes me feel that they’re really taking this seriously, and if Lindelof being involved is any indication, this is really going to be something special. It’s almost like George Lucas getting Kevin Smith involved in writing a new movie for Star Wars. If anything, it’s going to be an amazing ride. Hopefully it will be yet another Ridley Scott movie worthy of further study. It is no small feat that my excitement for this has almost eclipsed my excitement for The Dark Knight Rises, and as we’re all aware, I’m a huge Batman fan.

ParticipantI saw the original trailer when it was first out and was excited then, the second trailer has rekindled that. It looks pretty bad ass.
But at the same time I have to agree with Bryan, I feel trailers reveal way too much now a days. How many times are they going to put all the main action in the trailer only to have very little and a shoddy story in the actual movie? A reason I still don’t feel bad about piracy.

KeymasterInterviews rarely get me excited about movies like this… it’s not as if they are going to talk about their movie and say “Yeah, it’s pretty good… but if you watch the trailer you will totally get a sense of the whole movie. Just get some popcorn and relax, we aren’t going to make you think; it’s just straight forward entertainment”. Everyone is happy with their project, and let’s face it, tons of great movie makers of all disciplines make shit. As far as “scratching the surface”, that may not really be true of the movie itself, but of the universe they feel like they’ve created potential for. I haven’t (and likely won’t) watch any of the interview material on this. You know how I get –once my mind is made up, only the movie itself has any chance of changing my mind… and right now this feels like a mediocre movie that could have been really great.
That’s just me.

ParticipantTo be honest Rob, Lindelof being involved is one of the things which makes me wary of expecting the story to deliver on the promise of the awesome visuals. I’ve never read his comics but I ditched Lost shortly into season 3 and word on the street is that Cowboys and Aliens isn’t stellar work either. I’m sure he’s a smart cookie but artistically he’s done nothing to grab me and hold me yet.
But I can’t stop drooling over how damn sweet it all looks. When it comes to epic cinematography and art direction Ridley’s dudes are speaking my language to the max.
