Quote:Also today… a follow-up on something we’ve been telling you to expect for quite while now. 2007, as you may well be aware, is the 30th anniversary of the original Star Wars’ debut in theaters. You’d have to be stupid not to know that Lucasfilm is going to have big DVD release plans with which to celebrate the anniversary, and we’ve been telling you that was the case for many months now. Indeed, during our last visit to the Ranch for the DVD release of Episode III, producer Rick McCallum confirmed that a box set of all six films was going to happen eventually, and animation director Rob Coleman even let it slip that the puppet Yoda from Episode I had already been replaced with a new CG Yoda to match Episodes II & III for the “future” release. T-Bone over at Star Wars Universe recently speculated about this box set, and we’ve been quietly checking in with our industry sources on it as well. Well, we’ve confirmed it: There IS a big, ultimate, 6-film Star Wars anniversary DVD box set planned for 2007. There will be more changes to the films, and there will be LOTS of new, never-before-seen special features – all the good stuff that was held back by Lucasfilm from the original Trilogy DVD release a few years ago. Think deleted scenes and more. We don’t know if good, genuinely-REMASTERED versions of the original theatrical editions of the films will be included or not (though how you could call the set “ultimate” without them, we don’t know). We don’t expect high-definition versions yet, as those formats are just too new. We don’t have ANY other details for you yet, so please don’t ask. But as you consider whether or not to purchase the “limited edition” DVDs due on 9/12… we thought you should know that more IS absolutely on the way next year. ‘Nuff said for now.Interesting, no?

ParticipantLike you said before Rob and I am one of them, a Lucas whore. Just bought the unaltered OT DVD so I can both original and 2004 versions. And yes, I am saving money for 2007.

ParticipantPlease, George, for the love of all that is holy, unholy and everything else, stop ruining your movies! How many times can you change Eps. 4-6? I know you can, but should you? No! Stop it! You’re ruining it for everyone else.

ParticipantThanks Rob. But I have this thing about rumors. Until the almighty himself says there will be a 30th anniversary and its on the site, then I will believe and get it. But for right now, since I gave my 2004 OT DVD to my Father, I need to get this one coming up on Sept. 12.

ParticipantI’m with my boy Frank on this one. Although I do like TPM Yoda as CG instead of that horrible puppet.
George Lucas will come back from the dead to change SW every few years…
…and me and Darth O. will buy every-fucking thing he touches with his cold dead hands.
Do they make real-dolls in a metal bikini?

Well Rob, a real-doll with Lindsay’s face with a metal bikini do it for you has the ultimate Star Wars-real Lindsay Lohan doll-never-leave-the-house-fantasy? Or am I missing something else?

ParticipantBoy, that real doll stuff really has some legs!
That’d definitely be pretty damn good. But to be perfectly honest, I like the New Hope era Leia — not the jacked-up-I’ve-been-hittin’-the-drink-like-my-mama ROTJ phase. New Hope showed her walking (and bouncing) around and showing off cleavage and stuff. I liked that. She’s still an attractive woman, but she was really cute back then (at 19).
The closest Lindsay came to fulfilling that type of fanboy fantasy was when she played the busty version of Hermione in that SNL Harry Potter sketch. THAT was nice…

The fanboy sketch, or the wastage of the hand lotion. 😯
If it doesn’t work, jam a screwdriver in there and jiggle it about.

ParticipantFanboy.
And back to what Bing said, if 40 years later; from the ashes of his grave, Lucas came out with the super-uber-ultimate SW DVD collection that has all the movies, cartoons, tv show, Ben Burtt explaining in every detail of every sound, video games that been made, and including the infamous Holiday Special and all its special features I will buy it.

ParticipantStar Wars.com has comparison between the 1977 DVD unaltered version to the 2004 version shot by shot. I grew up with the OT but I am sorry the 2004 version is better.

ParticipantI actually think that some of the newer stuff is cool, I just wish it blended better with the older footage. The stuff that people complain about is cool to me, but its still too CG, I’m glad they improved on the 1997 version at least, but people bitch about stuff like, the saturation and the colors being slightly off. It’s not that serious man, once the XO project is done you will have the best possible laserdisc transfer that can be done without George himself. Maybe then they’ll be happy.

I can already hear the fanboys weeping. Yes, George “Backlash” Lucas is putting out yet another edition of Star Wars. And by Star Wars, I mean the whole of it. All six episodes. There’s going to be new footage, new behind-the-scenes, and features out the wazoo. All this to be released sometime in 2007.In addition to this news comes the news item that ILM has already replaced the puppet Yoda from Episode I with the CGI look from Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Again, this should make fanboys cry.
Look, I love Star Wars too. But people should really stop thinking it’s going to somehow solve all that’s wrong with their lives. Lucas is just a man, and these are his films. He’s putting the money up, he can essentially do what he wants to.
And that includes an entire film featuring Jar Jar Binks if he wants it.
