More Motherfuckery Part I: The Fuckening

I keep FaceTime disabled. Therefore I also disable the ability to answer cell calls on other devices that are on the same wifi network. Because that’s where the setting is.

Well, dad has computer question at 2am. Texts me if it’s ok to call? Yes. I’m up.

He calls. Not only does my iPhone ring. So does my ipad. WTF? I know where this is headed. Wife yells down that my dad called her. Yeah, she was asleep. Has to get up at 6am.

I checked settings. Thinking Apple® enabled it like they do bluetooth (FUCKERS!) but it’s still disabled.

    What the fuck, Apple®?

    This motherfuckery must end!

More Motherfuckery Part II: The Fuckery Menace

Yesterday wife was browsing Internet on iPhone. All of a sudden phone connects like she had made an outgoing call (verified by call log showing outgoing call) to which she is greeted by a telemarketing robo greeting thanking her for calling.

    What the fuck, Apple®?

    This motherfuckery must end!

More Motherfuckery Part III: The Final Fuckery

Got reports from multiple sources that they were getting (12 – 24 hours later) undelivered message alerts for messages I had clearly received.

    What the fuck, Apple®?

    This motherfuckery must end!

you need to change which email addresses/phone numbers the iPad can receive text/phone calls on. If you isolate it down to one ID (the one associated with the iPad, and NOT your FaceTime phone/email) it will stop ringing and getting notifications.

They really REALLY should not assume everyone wants this feature 100% of the time.

Also, consider making the iPad enter DND every night on a schedule… or any device you don’t want waking people up.

DND is a good idea but I set ours to allow favorites (basically family) so it would still have gone through.

Emails were first thing I checked. And were fine as long as FaceTime was off (which it was). I keep FaceTime off because I rarely use it but there are occasions when the cell forwarding on wifi is handy.

I keep the “cell calls” option enabled but disable FaceTime. This has always worked because the “cell calls” option is nested in the FaceTime setting.

I’ve toggled both settings on all my devices and all seems to be ok. Guess that’s the price of updating OTA and not doing a full install. But that’s ok.

I have forgiven Apple®. It was just pure unadulterated irritation at not knowing what the hell was going on, you know?

I’m surprised you didn’t tell me to “just give your wife her own Apple® ID you dumbass.” 🙂

And if this is the worst that has happened to me with Apple® since completely swearing off windows back in 2008 I’m completely ok with that.
