I laugh my ass off every time I watch this (ok, it’s only 3 times, but you know what I’m saying so get off my freaking back, ok) but I don’t really know why. I think it’s that I just love the pacing of it. It’s a very simple single shot but there are definite beats to it and to me the guy really nails them. But I can also get how people might find nothing in it to laugh at, because there’s not really a “joke” beyond the characters behaviour and the physical comedy in it is fairly subtle until the “punchline”.

I want to own all of Wes’ movies, just because there’s like this unendurable sweetness to them. Not all of them are great, but Rushmore, Royal Tenenbaums, Life Aquatic and Moonrise Kingdom were great. Not. Fan of Bottle Rocket, and haven’t seen Darjeeling or Fantastic Mr. Fox.
I think Darjeeling puts Wilson, Schwarzman, and Brody (bonus for Brody) into a cartoon of a relationship; feels like they’re falling apart and going nuts all the time, and whatvever’s keeping them together makes me really like it. Ie, they argue for a while on the train, then bond over perscription drug abuse. That’s pretty funny to me
