ParticipantI’m in the Audio Visual industry, and this one has got everyone confused and annoyed… I don’t know what it’s like in the States, But downunder were still hiring VHS tapes in Blockbuster…. So rushing into this one is not a biggie for most people here. Most of the Ozzie Joe Public have still got to go through the DVD Revolution yet 🙂
I also remember reading an article, about 4 years or so ago, saying that the DVD format would be good for the next 100 years or so! Hmmm they got that one a bit wrong by 90ish years….. It’ll be interesting to see how long HDDVD/BR last?
Just my 2c worth, now I’m off to crank up the phonogram.. Have a nice weekend all 🙂

ParticipantOne of the big reasoins to like HD-DVD over Blu-Ray is the “skinning” feature that they have in HD-DVD. This is a little talked about feature that allows you to put your own face on any of the characters in a movie and watch yourself in it! Very cool.
Of course, it has to be enabled in th DVD itself, but it is supposedly very cool.
As far as gaming goes, Bing, I’m a PC (Mac) guy. The sate of gaming is awful these days. All games are essentially the same. Every FPS that comes out looks ust like every other FPS and the same can be said for RTS and whatever other game types you have.
I pretty much only play WOW on the Mac. The XBox is primarily for the kids…

ParticipantI know this is an old post, but it definitely requires an update. Did you guys hear that HD-DVD players prices are dropping like mad? 700,000 Blu-Ray DVDs have been sold, vs. 310,000 HD-DVDs this year, so they’re definitely feeling the crunch. The cheapest standalone player will be $399, and the HD-DVD Xbox 360 add-on will drop in price from $199 to $130 (apparently, some Wal-Marts are selling them at this price already).
Signs of the race coming to an end? Does HD-DVD still have a chance? Are them there Sony motherfucks laughing their asses off right now? WILL MY 360 EVER WORK AGAIN? We’ll have to see!

ParticipantI thought I remember reading somewhere here recently that HD-DVD had already lost the battle and that everything was going to BluRay? Maybe I’m thinking about something else.

ParticipantWell, HD-DVD is definitely losing the battle, but they haven’t quite yet lost. The fact is, they’re both great formats, but it’s a shame that a compromise was not made. There should have never been a war in the first place.

ParticipantHave you read about the 360 Elite
It’s black.:http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/?WT.svl=navBy the way, what do you guys think in 5 maybe 10 years from now that maybe DVD (HD/Blu-Ray) will soon die. Watching CNBC and they where talking about downloading tv shows and movies, onto like Apple TV, 360 that sort of thing. And with this total fiber optical computer that IBM has made, it can download a HD-DVD quailty movie in a second.
