guilty pleasures

if i have a guilty pleasure it would have to be cheesey low-budget horror flicks. i absolutely love them no matter how good or bad they are.

so you’ll understand that i almost shat a brick today at walmart when i saw troll 2 (generally considered the worst movie ever made) on blu-ray. i know what you’re thinking so i’ll give you a moment to catch your breath.

yes i did buy it and yes it is as awesome as you think it is.

the acting is still horrible and the dialogue is still atrocious. but it’s like a train wreck. i can’t look away.

i don’t know if it’ll ever happen but my life’s dream since i was a little boy has been to hear a switched on show commentary for troll 2. 😀

But it is pretty funny that Troll 2 is in Blu Ray and Star Wars still isn’t.

I share the same love for zombie movies. Don’t know why zombies….maybe because they just seem so real to me.

now was that a social comment?

I want a movie about zombie rehab where they are trying to “quit” humans, fearing that eating them is making the zombies lazy and dumb.

I also want a horror/scifi movie to be made that is not so fucking dark that half the movie is just a blank screen with sound effects. I went and rented Predators and as soon as night fell in the movie it came out the blue ray and went sailing across the room. instantly darkening the whole house.

aliens vs. predators: requiem is the worst case of this i’ve ever seen. the commentary claimed it was intentional but we all know it was because of a lack of FX budget. which brings me back to my original point about b-class horror. one of my recent favorites is hatchet. very low budget and 90% of the movie is at night but you never feel like you’re going blind or your tv is messed up.

and i hate to agree with bing (not for personal reasons but for any specific fault of your own choosing) but the zombie movie is my favorite horror sub-genre. survival of the dead touched on it a little bit in that they were trying to get them to eat horses instead of humans. but that’s a brilliant thought, dude. i would love a movie like that.
