Some Japanimation is ok, but most makes no sense or is boring as hell. The rest are hentai. After seeing the Legend of the Overfiend, I decided to say no to japanimation.

Lemme break topic here a minute my brothers and share with you the story of dark angry boy that Frank is talking about. Back when Frankenbing was getting all edumacated at “university” (I think Pa-ul goes to university while all the rest of us go to college)…digression ensues….
anyway, dark angry boy, let’s call him “David” was one of those early “Emo” prototypes. You know the kind that suffer to gain attention and are so sensitive to the hurt and pain of the world in a “Pay attention to me” kind of way.
As wierd as this was way back in the day (remember this was before the current teenage Emo trend) it was mildly interesting for about 5 minutes when you first met him. Except for Frank that is. Frank and David hit it off like Pat Robertson and Homosexuals….to say they didn’t get along is like saying Rob kinda likes chickens.
One day we were in a friends dorm room and she wanted to watch a porno. Thinking we might see some real life boobie Frank and I told her to go right ahead and put in the tape she wanted to watch….make a long story short it was an animated porno from Japan that dark angry boy David had given her…..
….animated porn?……where does that get fun?
……needless to say no boobage was seen…except for the ones drawn on screen. I mean hell she might as well have handed us crayons and construction paper and told us to draw an orgy…..

I was staffing a camp when one night, this guy pulls out a video called “Legend of the Overfiend.” His enthusiasm and commitment towards the film made all of the staff want to watch it, so we piled into the one building with a tv and started to watch. It started off ok… some horny dude peeping on the girls’ locker room, lotsa anititties, but then it got fucked up. Cock demons attacking each other, using their ginormous cocks as weapons, chick on chick rape but one was a demon, and the best/worst part: This guy obtains a demon penis and must bathe it in the blood of two mortals and replace it with his own in order to obtain super powers, so he whacks his folks, chops off Mister Winky, and the rest went downhill. Fuck Japanese cartoons.
They are definitely fucked up. But out of all the crap, there is some really good ideas. The standouts — Akira, Ninja Scroll, Ghost in the Shell.
Basically what I’m saying…
about 25-50% is coherent, after that, about 50-75% isn’t complete crap or porn, so about 25-50% is at least watchable/good
Too true Justin, if it wasn’t for my brother I’d have written off anime long ago with some of the boring crap I’ve seen.

I like some of the action and ideas from Ghost In The Shell but never seen those other two Rob, and haven’t seen any of the porn either. The writing Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo is better than a lot of the award winning TV shows out there, mature (not sex-wise, just intelligent) and with a dark, sly Han Solo type sense of humour, which puts them a cut above most shows or films I’ve seen. Bebop easily matches most current prime time tv shows (animated or normal) in terms of story and dialogue quality and is cooler than most of them because it’s about space based bounty hunters. Awesome bebop jazz soundtrack and very good voice acting too, just don’t make the mistake of listening to the horseshit English overdubs, bite the bullet and watch subtitles, it really makes a huge difference.
In fact if the live-action Star Wars TV show comes out as well written and acted as Cowboy Bebop (or BSG for that matter) it’ll be totally awesome and will blow every other past scifi show out of the sky. A good measure of the coolness of Bebop is to take the coolness of the Clone Wars cartoon, which I thought was pretty damn cool, and double it. I don’t know about the percentages like Armez, I just don’t watch enough animated stuff to know or compare. But I’ve seen Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo and I can compare them to what’s on tv (or in the movies) now and they crap on 98% of it.
