ParticipantAny of you guys into the fan edits of movies? A couple of years ago there was the Phantom Edit, which was a pretty cool re-edit of Phantom Menace, taking a lot of the jokey crap out of the movie and was pretty cool.
The reason I bring this up is a guy from work wanted me to find a copy of the Primitive Screwhead version of Army of Darkness (not a huge fan, but Bruce Campbell is cool as shit). This was a DVD that basically assembled all of the different versions of AOD into a single kick ass DVD, and while looking for it, found fanedit.org.
On here are different edits of movies from Aliens to really obscure movies like Capricorn One. I found it really interesting, and found a version of the original Star Wars movie that I really wanted to see — 156 changes to the Special Edition, as simple as changing the Han-Greedo scene back to the way it was, and as complex as totally redoing the Falcon escape scene. The Falcon is no longer stationary, now it moves around and is actually trying to evade the TIE fighters, and it was really cool to see. They even changed the Vader/Obi-Wan fight, now with new music — Battle of the Heroes from Episode III is now used here, and it was pretty impressed to notice the change in the feel of it…it now seemed much more tragic. Just cool stuff. There’s even a wrecked Battle Droid on the Sandcrawler — just cool cool stuff, and I highly recommend searching this one out.

ParticipantI actually really am. I was gonna bring it up, but I figured y’all wouldn’t be into it. I just watched the Adywan Episode 4 Revisited edit and it is very well done. Modernizes a bit and changes it enough to make it, in my opinion possibly the definitive version of the film. Most of the editors post on originaltrilogy.com and you can see the crazy amount of dedication it takes to do a project of that magnitude (Adywan’s was two years). Definitely worth the download, here is a picture by picture look at the changes.

ParticipantI downloaded the Adywan edit and loved it. Sure, there were some odd changes, but the ratio of odd shots to excellent improvements was like 100:1. I know, I know, never tell you the odds…right…
Anyway, this guy put it a ton of work and fixed things that I didn’t even know were broken. And I am going to be honest, I was never able to fully connect ROTS with ANH until this edit. Great stuff.

KeymasterI’m going to get this one and watch it. Just to see.

ParticipantYeah, it’s definitely worth a watch. Especially since we’ve seen it so many times, when there’s a change it just jumps out, and like Brandon said, almost all of them are pretty cool.

ParticipantThe things I liked about this particular version are…
1. New Computer Screen Graphics
2. Removal of excessive rats when the speeder flys by into Mos Eisley and stupid robot joke

ParticipantYeah, the creatures’ facial movements make the cantina scene so much more believable.
