    You fellas use any good ones for PC which don’t cost a thousand bucks? I have my sky dive footage on dvd so I can’t mess with it until I find out how to make it into AVI or something.

    I’ve heard handbrake is a good one. Personally, I tend to torrent rather than rip it from DVD.

    I can’t find Bucho’s Skydive on Pirate Bay though…..very strange!

    Hmmm, I have Handbrake but I didn’t know it could be used as a ripper. I’ll give it a shot.

    Being a total dork I even asked at the Sky Dive place if I could have the files in raw files instead of dvd form, but they just had this weird setup using cams with tapes and an old dvd recorder rather than a computer with a burner and the dude didn’t know how to do it any other way. They don’t edit it at all, just dump everything that’s shot straight into the dvd recorder and live mix some music from an iPod into it.

    The program I was was thinking of was DVD43 but that’s a decrypter not a ripper.

    Handbrake will decrypt, and rip. It’s the standard tool for what you are trying to do.

    i second the handbrake recommendation. it’s a wonderful little app.

    Yeah it did the trick just fine on my Skydive dvd. Apparently it doesn’t decrypt anymore though. Says on the site it used to but not now.

    I’m up to date on mine, and ‘archived’ a source lately where decryption worked just fine.

    *BTW, just looked at the site, and the feature announcement says there is no decrypt support for Blu-Ray… DVD should work as it always has.

    Weird, I swear on the site they say they used to do decryption but don’t anymore. They even recommend other decrypters. I haven’t tried it for anything encrypted though so mostly I’m just talking out my ass.
