third batman title is the dark knight rises and, sadly, won’t feature the riddler.
but thankfully nolan will get his way on the “no 3d” and opt for more of the IMAX goodness that was so spectacular in the first film.

The title’s fine. I don’t mind if it’s not The Riddler, I’m sure the Nolans will find the villain who works best with their vision. I also heard Tom Hardy is aboard so Fuck Yeah to that too.

i’m confident but man i wish ledger could reprise the joker. i don’t see how nolan can top the dark knight but if it can be done he’s the one to do it. talking about it makes me want to watch it again. the dark knight is such an awesome film.

I really rated Ledger as one of the best of his generation but from what I’ve seen of Tom Hardy I think he’s also capable of greatness. The Nolans haven’t always cast well (I like Tom Wilkinson but he was so, so wrong for playing a mob boss in Begins) but picking Hardy is a brilliant start.
And as good as the good parts of The Dark Knight are I don’t think it’s a perfect film either. If the Nolans can keep the great stuff from TDK and leave out the dopey stuff like the boats scene and the cellphone vision then I really think they can top it.

ledger’s performance in dark knight was as perfect an example of actor/role synergy as i’ve ever seen onscreen. but other than his role as the joker i’ve never had an interest in him. i was actually disappointed when he was cast as the joker but i can’t imagine anyone else playing that part as perfectly as he did.

I didn’t know for sure if he could play The Joker either, because he’d never attempted a role like that before. He was fine as a light comic actor in flicks like 10 Things I Hate About You and Knight’s Tale but his performances in Monster’s Ball and Brokeback Mountain, which are characters who are as understated as The Joker is over the top, were really great work. So I knew he could be very effective in that type of role, and it wasn’t until TDK that I was convinced he had genuine range.
And I’d avoided Brokeback Mountain for a long time, thinking I didn’t need to see a movie which didn’t seem like much fun and was surrounded by controversy and baggage and possible overhype, but even though there are some problems with the film it was totally worth watching just to see an actor get it so, so right.
I remember Daniel Day-Lewis saluting Ledger’s performances in Monster’s Ball and Brokeback Mountain and thinking that if a guy like DDL says you done good, then you done fucking good.

I trust Nolan completely. As a huge Batman fan, I was disappointed to hear that Ra’s Al Ghul was the villain in Batman Begins, and boy was I wrong. And how much more could I possibly say about Heath?
I actually fear that my expectations will be WAY too high, so I think I’ll have to do my best to temper them.
So, Anne Hathaway cast as Catwoman and Tom Hardy as Bane. Interesting.
I’ve seen Anne Hathaway naked. I haven’t seen Tom Hardy naked.
But yeah, seriously, they can both act, so I’m up for it.
i’ve got a funny feeling that if it wasn’t for chris nolan we’d be seeing a pro wrestler as bane.

Havoc and Brokeback Mountain. And from what I’ve heard, she’s naked all through that last movie she was in with Jake Gyllenhaal.
