Ha, thanks Lark, I guess Indiana Jones movies influence us all in different ways. I also had a grandma who was Dutch but who grew up as a young girl in Indonesia when it was a Dutch colony and so I grew up hearing stories of the wild and especially of my great grandfather being a badass doing jungle stuff.
Also, when you’re off the beaten path and looking out into the dense forest it’s really easy to imagine one of the Jurassic Park dinosaurs is about to poke its head or tail out. Honestly, being a movie dork was one of the big factors in driving me over there and looking for some kind of adventure. Even wanting to learn another language was really inspired by characters like Indy or Han Solo or James Bond being able to talk in foreign tongues. For some reason I always thought the ability of those rogue type fellas to be somewhat comfortable interacting with exotic and unfamiliar and potentially dangerous people and environments was just as badass as being able to fight or shoot well.
Also, Digi’s right, the headquarters of Amazon.com really were right there running off the same steam boiler.
