ROSS
ParticipantThe Switched On Show has been so huge for me since I listened to my very first episode, episode 23, more than 2 years ago, I genuinely cannot imagine what it would be like without any new episodes. Switched on was the very first podcast I listened to, it acted as a brilliant introduction into the world of podcasts and podcasting. Over the last two years, I have listened to many other podcasts as well as switched on, however many of them quit very quickly, or were of poor quality so lost listeners, Switched on is the only podcast I have on my Itunes which has outlasted so many others, all the time being consistently straight out frickin hilarious and for all this time, I mean 150 shows is absolutely amazing. All this time you guys have accomplished so many things that other podcasters can only dream about: the 20 hour 24 hour podcast, the live ipod giveaway, incredible show content, brilliant show artworks, t shirts, best of C.Ds, movie commentaries, and a brilliant website. Now I can see that that is an amazingly superb achievement and I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say, Congratulations Bryan, Rob and Jerry. You guys are simply the best damn show hosts in the frickin world ever man. [Bows down and does like Mike Myers in Wayne’s World 2 “we are not worthy”/]
Switched On has given me so much in the way of entertainment over the last 2 years.
I mean you guys’ comedy is simply pure gold, every last bit of it. Also, if it hadn’t been for Jerry, I would never have got into Howard Jones’ music, and if it weren’t for Rob, I probably would never have realised how good Nine Inch Nails are. So yet another thing I’ve got to thank you guys for (the list is endless), broadening my musical horizons, thank you guys so much. All of you guys’ stories you’ve told throughout the shows have been awesome as well. And Rob, your Scottish guy impersonations are “fuckin great” man, every time I’d hear you do it on the show I’d laugh my ass off. Jerry, your musical ability and talent you demonstrated on the shows seemed endless, absolutely brilliant, as a musician myself – I play the piano and guitar – I can only begin to appreciate your brilliance at the keyboard. In fact, Bryan, Rob and Jerry, put simply, you are the funniest guys on the planet, no doubt about it. I’m gonna miss the weekly instalment of my all time favourite show so much it’s unbearable. However I do fully understand your reasons of it being difficult to continue podcasting, I mean countless others have packed it in long before you guys, so as I said before, I wish you huge congratulations for doing it for this long. Bryan, in show 145, you mentioned about how you felt independent podcasting was dead, well all I can say is once you guys have hung up the headphones, it most certainly will be.I thought I’d let you guys know just how much I appreciate the huge amount of work you guys have put in over the last 2 and a half years in making the greatest podcast of all time. Bryan, Rob and Jerry, thank you so much and I wish you all the best of luck for the future.

ParticipantWow, Ross. I just don’t know what to say. That’s some mighty fine praise, there. For me, the absolute hardest thing in all this is the fact that I love you fans so much (in the non-gay way) — there’s just something extremely rewarding in knowing that we have done something that has touched so many others (in a non-gay way). The reason that I hadn’t thrown in the towel was because of two things — the fans, and the fun. It really is as fun as you think, doing this show. But, like anything, when the fun, in my case, is surrounded by close to three hours driving (!), the fun starts to wane. Believe me when I say that this was a long time coming (in a non-gay way), but we had postponed it as long as we could.
I suppose that the fact that we are quitting because of it getting in the way of our lives is just part of it, but oh, how I wish we could keep doing it (in a non-gay way).
Just start petitioning Sirius radio to pick up the show, and we’ll keep doing it!

ParticipantThose are some mighty fine sentiments Ross. I agree, SOS has been amazing these past couple of years for me. I just always enjoy listening to the show and chatting on the forums, it’s really taken up a lot of my time. I can’t remember how I first found the podcast, but I am eternally grateful I did. I’m not even sure what I would have done without SOS, as there really are no other podcasts that I care about. Thanks for all the good times guys. I have kept most of the old shows, so I know that after switched:On is over with, I’ll still have the classics.

ParticipantYou said it Ross. It’s a strange thing how this show in particular has gotten under the skin of so many of us from all corners of this little green and blue planet we fly around on and I’ve been surprised by how sad I felt about it, even though it’s always been on the cards and most importantly it’s the best thing for the boys’ lives. I guess the sadness is a result of the show being so natural and feeling almost like we’re hanging out with Bryan, Rob and Jerry, albeit in a lopsided way, every week. So rather than just a favourite entertainment ending, it’s almost like some friends are moving away so we can’t hang out with them anymore. It’s something I wasn’t expecting to feel because my rational side says, “Come on dude, you only interacted with these guys on the forum, a phone call and a few voicemails and mp3 files, you haven’t met them.” It’s weird. I like these guys a hell of a lot and it makes the world a better place to know they’re out there in it.
So, yeah Ross, you do speak for me too when you say a huge thank you and congratulations to the SOS boys, and I know what you mean when you say there’ll be something missing in your life after Show 150. It’s been an epic ride. Now what matters is that the show goes out in a blaze of rude, unbridled, thunderously hilarious glory like it and the hosts deserve.

yeah…don’t do thatActually that would be funny, because you know the ending is coming.
Not funny: If you play Journey. Funny: Playing the Orange Lounge with guns shots and the music stops. *hint, hint*June 24, 2007 at 12:26 am #6263Bucho
ParticipantI think Bryan already has something epic up his sleeve for the finale already and I hope it’s much more Switched On style and much less ambiguous/artsy than The Sopranos.

ParticipantMaybe it should be a video release, with Bryan walking out of the office with the podcast gear, glancing around, and cut to black.
