ParticipantI’m sure lots of Linux devices will start using that.

Participantnokia has never really done well in the U.S. market but they recently released a phone running on their linux based os that actually looks decent. it even runs flash (hear that apple? it runs flash.)
i would love an iphone, but not on the at&t network. and the nokia looks much sleeker than the blackberry. my wife has a storm and i actually like it a lot but its just a tad too bulky for me. but if you look at the article they claim it could be an effective competitor to the iphone, but i think that’s a little too optimistic given the current state of the market.
it should be interesting though.

ParticipantI don’t have any of the smartphones nor have I done any research into them, but from the commercials I’ve seen the new Palm phone, which runs on WebOS which is a Linux operating system, looks cool. But I dislike how certain phones are tied to certain carriers. I know you can unlock a phone, but that’s a bit messy.

Participantoh yeah i forgot about the palm pre. i love the physical design. i’ve never been a fan of palm’s os. but that was years ago so i’m sure the pre interface wouldn’t be as distasteful to me.

KeymasterHey, this news can affect Apple just as easily, as the former PA Semi team will benefit from these design items, since they came directly from ARM. 2GHz iphone would be the nice.

wow, dude, the iphone (and my ipod touch) already performs beyond what i would expect from this kind of device. some of the 3d apps i’ve used on my ipod run smoother and push more polygons than i thought it was capable of. i shudder (in a good way) to think what apple developers could do with this.
i knew the older gen ipods used ARM, but i was’t sure if the new iphone/ipod did.
