ParticipantMy drive to procrastinate combined with my rampant dorkiness has lead to me screengrabbing a ton over the years. Surely there’s something constructive which can come out of that. Like this?
AIRPLANE! (1980)

KeymasterI never noticed that the photo in the back was lit from the opposite side.

ParticipantYou sure edited that post a lot.
Nice screenshot. One of my faves.

ParticipantYeah, like a fool I had already forgotten how to post an image so it took me a couple of tries. And the forum does this weird thing where it says you edited it twice for each single edit you actually do, so my foolery looks more dramatic than it really was.

ParticipantMAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME (1985)
May not be a classic film or even the best of the franchise, but I love a lot of the shots from it.

ParticipantA couple of years ago I got to see this movie on the big ol’ big screen when the 70mm print was doing the rounds. It was literally magical literally. Featuring Tatooine. Obi Wan even turns up.
LAWRENCE OF ARABIA (1962)

ParticipantI do like this movie, but nobody else I know does. At least, not until NOW!

KeymasterI’ve still never seen it. Still NOW!

ParticipantI thought Lawrence of Arabia was roundly beloved. I mean, it’s long as heck, sure, and it has a bunch of olde-timey acting in it but while it’s being all long and stuff it’s also being magnificent. They really took their time to compose some masterful cinematic imagery back in ye olde dayes.

ParticipantBIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA (1986)
Two Kurts in the first five shots? Yes, because that’s the method by which I roll. I wouldn’t go as far as to call Kurt’s chops underrated but he definitely should be in more things. Definitely. I mean, what is he even doing with his time anyway? Being a good family man? Pfffft. Family shmamily.

ParticipantBy the way, I don’t know if it’s clear or not, but this thread isn’t “Bucho’s Screengrab of the Day”, it’s for anybody who wants to contribute. Post ’em if you got ’em.

ParticipantI give the guy mad props. He’s not a bad director, IMHO, he just needs to stay away from screenwriting.
February 10, 2014 at 9:39 am #62700Bucho
ParticipantWell, he’s sure as heck a visually talented director, but if stories from his sets are anything to go by he can’t direct actors worth a damn.
