quick scenario for you guys.
names, places, events all changed per the usual reasons.
Rob from switchedON is on vacation in Hawaii. some jackhole from work calls him for a specific piece of info that should be readily available to anyone not on vacation in Hawaii.
being the good natured fellow he is (please hold your laughter. like i said, i changed stuff for dramatic purposes.) he decides to spend an hour tracking the info down.
Rob calls back in with the info only to be told “oh, that’s okay. we got it.”
at which point Rob can only huff out an irritated “‘kay” and waits a couple beats during which there is complete silence.
with seemingly no conversation taking place, Rob simply hangs up. suddenly Rob’s phone rings. it’s work. Rob answers to a “hey, did you hang up on me?”
with nothing to hide Rob says “yes” only to be chastised for this rude behavior.
so my question is this: did Rob technically “hang up” on the other person?
oh, and apologies for the Saliva reference in the title.

Yes, but fuck them. Everyone knows that I have a problem with authority, especially authority that is dumb as a bag of pickled toothpicks.
Yes you did. And you should have. Who chastised Rob for his rudeness? A peer? A supervisor? Yeah fuck them. If I were in Rob’s place, I’d have said “Oh you got what you needed? Oh okay, sorry it took me so long, it must be the time difference from where I’m on vacation with my family, and where you are back at the office with all of the other people who probably weren’t aware that they should look for the answer where THEY are!” -Then I’d have hung up.
Fuck people. It doesn’t matter if it was a supervisor or not, it’s their role that commands respect and or a sense of urgency, not the person. In fact, it’s been my experience that the person can nullify damn near any amount of those things endowed upon them by their position; it’s just a sliding scale to the top.
If it wasn’t anyone of consequence, Rob should punch them in the dick when he returns to the office.
