Hungry?

I ask if you’re hungry, because you might be after you read this post.

I’ve been looking for a good pizza. Like, really good, authentic pizza. I’ve been looking for a while on Urbanspoon and Yelp, and found one really close to where I work, called Cavalli Pizza. I read reviews, and one of them was like, “I travel all over the country, and Cavalli is my 2nd favorite in the country”. So, today, all by myself, I thought, why not, give it a try.

Ho. Ly. Shit.

I got the base Margherita pizza with garlic. It was sauce, fresh mozzarella, basil, and olive oil, and I added the garlic. Watched them make it, watched them put it in the wood-fired, 800 degree brick oven. They brought it out and it was super-light.

So I took it to the car, sat there, listening to the Deathly Hallows read by Mr. Fry, put some Parmesan cheese on top and took a bite. So damn amazing. Amazing how something so simple could be so perfect.

The pizza looked huge, and I thought there would be no way that I could finish it (probably 12 inches or so). Boy, was I wrong. I ate the whole damn thing, and what shocked me was that I wasn’t all super crazy full. It was so light, but I’ve never had a pizza that tasted so complete.

So, today was the day I ruined pizza for good, because nothing I’ve ever had even comes close, and that’s not one of those I’m-gonna-use-a-superlative-because-I-don’t-know-how-to-describe-shit kind of exclamations, this is the truth, coming from a die-hard pizza lover.
