It is pretty funny, but I think the nature of this film is going to make the horrificness more visceral than any number of other films in which more gross things happen.
In horror, sci-fi and action movies there’s a disconnect caused by the inherent contrivances of the genres, so the gore is entertainment, whereas in this one Danny Boyle’s telling not just a true story, but a very relatable one. In other violent genres, like war films, the majority of people can’t relate as well to what’s going on because they’ve never been in a firefight or been bombed or stood on mines etc.
What I’m getting at is that I don’t want you guys to make fun of me too much when I pass out watching 127 Hours.
