ParticipantSo I am listening back through the catalog of SOS, and wanted a place to post funny bits that I happened to hear without having to dig up the thread made for that show.
I just listened to 83. Somehow, I had totally missed this show, so it was like a fresh new show to me. I haven’t laughed that hard in awhile. Jerry was at the top of his game in this one, between changing song lyrics and typical Jerry out-in-left-field remarks he had me laughing my butt off. And then you guys played those old tapes that Bryan’s sisters recorded, and I was cracking up to those. And Bryan’s “ROCK ON!!!!” yells were hilarious too.
And then the great Buddha calls in. First off, I want to say that you have one of the coolest accents ever. That said, your perfectly timed “Quick, get him some porn!” line when Bryan was busting a gut was frickin’ funny as crap. Start a podcast dude, I would listen.
So if you fellas feel so inclined, post the funny parts of the shows you guys are listening to here….
And Amanda Hemnis of Clarksdale, MS, you didn’t freakin’ win the video iPod.

ParticipantShow 12 (3rd time, pretty soon I’m gonna be able to do the transcripts 🙂 )
I love the Transformers section, where Bryan explains about a city sized transformer.
The sound when he bangs on the desk cracks me up, it worked for Rob.
And Many, Many more
If it doesn’t work, jam a screwdriver in there and jiggle it about.

ParticipantThanks THX, it’s been my life’s work to get my accent this way and it’s always a relief to know it’s finally paying off. I also love the ROCK ON!! yells, that stuff makes me smile anytime I think about it.
Darth Octavious wrote:Show 118 and 93Holy fuggin SNAP Batman, I’m literally in the middle of 93 as I type this. I put it on earlier while I got down to some chores and I’m loving the bejebus out of it. The balls of it is, during 93 and the few shows that follow, the boys think this particular show’s sucking, they’re apologizing to first time listeners and all that crap, but there’s heaps of good stuff in there.
The sweet, sweet irony is that it’s Bryan worrying about the show sucking that leads him to say he wishes they’d just gone ahead and done the Episode 2 commentary instead of a normal show, which spurs Jerry to come up with the killer idea that eventually becomes a whole hour or so of Star Wars for the second half of the show and it’s why I wanted to listen to it again today.
They start off with Choose Your Favorite Scene From Each Of The Star Wars Films and Rob does a nice selection, then Jerry does a funny selection where he chooses very innocuous scene from each film (which gets even funnier when Bryan calls him on it and Jerry continues to act like he’s serious). Then one of my favourite sections of SOS ever, Bryan’s selection. He goes so in depth and analytical but not at all in a cold way, in a way where you can hear how the little Star Wars loving kid in him has never died but that kid has grown up to somehow combine that instinctive passion with a very sharp understanding of visual media and the vocabulary to express it very well. Once he gets all hardcore analytical Rob and Jerry rise to it and the discussion is superb.
The first half of the show has good stuff too, plenty of the usual Rob’s funny voice modulations, Jerry’s off-the-wall comments (that weirdo) and Bryan talking too much. There’s some talk about Burton Gillian, 80s MTV acts, Rob’s work bus trip and blood spitting horny toads. Did you know The Cure’s Love Cats was one of the first songs Jerry learnt to play on keyboard with both hands? I do.

ParticipantYou know what warms my heart? The fact that no one’s talking about a different show. Like, “Oh, I’m listening to Fucko and Steve” or something. Everyone’s still listening to switched:on, and that’s just awesome.
Now sit on Pawpaw’s lap and tell him what you want for Christmas…

ParticipantI think 93 is precious, but that could just be ’cause I’m a Star Wars fan. It could possibly be boring to a non-SW guy, but I’m gonna bet that most of the SOS audience is a SW fan.
I’m in the middle of 143. This is a show that’s definitely in my top 5, up there with 60 and 99. The Love Shack shit is just so awesome, and you ended the show with my favorite David Bowie song. That made my day when I first heard it.

Paw-Paw, you know what I want for Christmas. Money, girlfriend on the side (just kidding), my father-in-law to go missing (not joking) and a iPod touch with some new ::switched:ON shows (not joking and praying)

Like now, I am reading Fury, the Legacy comics and Death Star, and I am in this SW moment that with listening to the Forcecast, I also listen to show 93.

ParticipantI’m with you boys too, loved 93. And Darth, if you are listening the FC, I would recommend checking out IHN (Bing himself left them some vm’s) and Voice of the Republic. I get tired of the Forcecast butt-kissing…
And since we’re on the subject of Star Wars, I thought I would share my Christmas wish. An Empire Strikes Back Commentary from the SOS gang, with 2-1B on the side… 😀

ParticipantI’d love a Empire commentary, just to hear what happens to the boys when they actually encounter the for-real 2-1B.

ParticipantShow 30, the double episode, where the boys talk about all the hellraising stories.
Bryan’s letter-box destroying Indestructible Skatemobile, Rob’s deeds of pure evil, and Jerry’s hysterical tellings of Walmart hijinks and chunking stuff in the apartment block pool. Damn, it’s gold that show.
