So, Friday night I walked outside around 1am to have a smoke. It was flippin’ bright outside. I looked up at the moon and it was like all right there in my face with its reflectiveness. Pps Anyways, I remembered that I had some binoculars in the house. I was staggered by how much detail I could see with 10×50 specs. Pretty cool detail. I just wish my hands weren’t flopping around the whole time while I was trying to see the surface detail.
It got me to wondering how far the moon is from earth. I mean, how far is it if they were both in front of you. Well, it’s a heck of a lot farther away than I realized. I wanted to find a graphical representation of it and it took me to this guys site. I was pulled into this vortex of information for probably another hour. Now that darn space has really got me thinking about how small I am in this universe. But at the same time how large I am compared to the binoculars.

I looked all around the internet, even at http://www.galaxyscissors.com and I just can’t find scissors big enough or sharp enough to make that 100th cut. So… the world may never know.
That is a cool article, I had often wondered how far it was across the known galaxy. Of course, the writer didn’t take into account the Millennium Falcon. She’ll make .5, past lightspeed.
